The Technological Leader
A technical leader in generally a person chosen to lead a specialized team in executing individual objectives, mostly those that involve engineering and Technology. When it comes to applied Science and Technology, the technological leader guides his/her team in technological advancements and projects together with providing fast solutions to technical and scientific errors that are so prone to happen (Buckley, N et al. 2015).
The text below shows the functions and responsibilities of team leaders. It also shows what knowledge skills and abilities the technological leader is obliged to be efficient in his job.
For technological leaders to fit in and be efficient in their jobs, they need to be conversant with the general work scheme and have positive leadership qualities. Technical leaders have different functions as appertains Applied Science and development. For starters, the technical leaders are supposed to ensure that any innovations and items produced by the team do not breach terms of the agreement or contract and suit the customer’s or the user’s needs and preferences ( Ribble, M. 2015). Second, the technological leader investigates mistakes in recent technological innovations and advancements and changes the models to fit the current economic and technological standards, thus meeting the user’s preferences. It is also mandatory for the technical leader to check on the technological director and provide aid in project development and several innovations. Through closely associating with the technological director, these innovations are developed quicker and in more thoughtful ways, which may sometimes not be cheap. The technical leaders also tend to be bestowed with the function of ensuring that team members work in line with the terms of conduct and work ethic outlined in the organization or sector.
Technological leaders tend to be burdened with a couple of responsibilities that they must fulfill. Such duties include; being the mediator in the team. This means that the technological leader is supposed to solve any queries and disagreements between his team members. It is a result of these disagreements that the workflow is interrupted ( Ribble, M. 2015). It is also the responsibility of the technological manager to investigate what the end-user requires. In the aspect of research, it is also in the technical leaders’ job description to boost his/her educational finesse as appertains Science and Technology, since new methods are being invented, innovated and introduced. To keep up with the trend, the technological leader needs to be thirsty for any further resourceful information.
The technological leader’s responsibility is to determine the accuracy and efficiency of innovative items. The technical leader should be a role model for his team. He should, therefore, take the lead in setting goals for the team and ensuring they are achieved. Among the team leader’s responsibilities is to recruit new members of the group (Stiglitz, J. E. 2015). Recruiting these members may not be enough since some basic training is required to ensure these new members work as per the stated rules and goals. It is also the responsibility of these technical leaders to interact deeply with their team members. This creates an environment where the team leaders can understand their members well and know where they have specialized in. With adequate knowledge of the members’ specializations, their talents and abilities can be wisely used to increase work output. The last responsibility is to take note of all the resources that come in and out. This prevents misuse or even looting of resources leading to saving on the cost of innovation resources. The keenness of the technological leader eventually wins the trust of the customers as well as superiors.
For a team leader to be good at his job, he/she needs to have some very necessary abilities. These abilities include the following; first, the average technological leader should have a strict schedule. This means that everything, including his roles, is done on time. Being strict on time gives the team leaders and their teams the ability to gain the discipline to meet the customers’ demands on time. Constant delay and procrastination always result in huge losses and a break of trust. Second, the average technological leader should be able to create goals for his team. Goals act as a significant motivating factor. The Technological leader should also be able to do different tasks simultaneously (Stiglitz, J. E. 2015). This ensures that all work is coordinated and done efficiently. The technological leader, lastly, should be able to understand his/her team members well and should also be able to focus on the job at hand despite his/her issues or random distractions.
Technological leaders should also be equipped with the following knowledge and skills; first, they should know the learned information as appertains to applied science and Technology. Technological leaders should have reached the highest educational level to gain adequate knowledge required for innovation. Second, they should be equipped with the knowledge of sufficient team building and coordination. It is with this knowledge that good and reproductive teams are created. Third, on the list, is knowledge on how to acquire research materials.
Skills that the Technological leaders require directly relate to the abilities and knowledge, and the three; knowledge skills and connected.
From the above paragraphs, it is evident that technological leaders have a lot to achieve and consider in order to achieve success, both for themselves and their teams.
