Societal Impact
Social capital is the effective functioning of social groups, including institutions, relationships, and norms that shape the quality and the quantity of a society’s social interactions. Social capital is not only the sum of the institutions underpinning a society but a glue that holds them together. The social groups must lead to cooperation in groups and therefore are related to various virtues like honesty, keeping commitments, reliable performance of duties, and reciprocity. Social capital can be efficient in the transformation of the schools since they are about the scientific judgment and personal judgment; about being open to the client who is the students than giving orders to exercise the authority over them and also about being in touch with the colleagues who fall short of their professional mission letting their students and peers down.
On the other hand, civic capacity is the individual capacity in a democracy to become active citizens and work together in solving the common problems and of communities to encourage such participation in their members. Civic capacity can be individuals as well as the community’s property. As an individual property, it involves the skills of discerning facts and making a judgment on civic activism context. Civic capacity can be helpful to seek out problems within the school in areas that its existence can be as a result of the failure of people within the institution to collaborate on the effective solutions or holding the leaders accountable.
Leaders in school are ethically challenged on making difficult decisions while coping with high stake pressures from the political leader and the public with the accountability legislation. All the stakeholders hold the school leadership accountable for results from their moral and ethical nature of the decision. The difference in the socio-economic background has a significant effect on the performance of the student. The highest performing education supports both equity and quality. Education failures impose a high cost on society. Moreover, morality in society is improved with reduced school failures, which strengthens individual and social capacities to respond to the recession and contribute to social wellbeing and economic growth. The main areas for improvement are the societal capacities and school failures. The societal capacities are improved with the high performance of the school and also a decision by the society practicing civic capacity. Moreover, reduction in school failure is achieved through enhanced leadership.
