NEPA, ESA and Fundamentals of Environmental Law
The documentary was released on 11th June 2019, and it was used to introduce the general framework of the environmental law as it is applied in the United States of America. The film also talks about environmental statutes which have been known for more than forty years. In the film, the narrator focused on the two major environmental statutes found in U.S. NEPA stands for the National Environmental Act and it was put in place to find the means of protecting the principals of the environment. NEPA is also responsible for the establishment of the council for establishing the quality of the environment in the White House. This means that NEPA makes sure that all the federal agencies have met their duties as they are laid down by NEPA. In recent years, there have been various proposals to amend NEPA. Most of them have been focusing on the reviewing processes of the environment, which would help in reducing the time people spend while waiting.
On the other hand, ESA stands for the Endangered Species Act, and it usually protects people from the dangerous species in the United States of America. It is administered by the United States Fish and the Wildlife service. ESA ensures that all the endangered species have been kept in an area where they cannot affect the healthy life of human beings. The Federal government of the United States of America in collaboration with the State governments ensures that all the citizens are protected from the endangered species. The current proposals on the Endangered Species Act are to come up with the regulations about the factors which are considered when declaring the species to be dangerous.
The principal Statute which was discussed by the film includes the “National Policy Act” that was referred to as the “Magna Carta,” of the law about the environment, and the “Endangered Species Act” that was commonly referred to as the “pit bull.” The documentary has explained all the things which the citizens of the United States of America should consider when it comes to the environmental laws. NEPA has been helping the country in coming up with the regulations which are balanced that they do not make the life of the human beings difficult and also they let the wildlife stay good. According to the documentary, NEPA is trying all that it can to ensure that the laws are amended regularly to give the room for the advancement of the technology.
NEPA and ESA, environmental bodies are highly respected in the United States of America for their regulations concerning the environment. Their existence has helped the United States of America to stay clean; people remain free from the endangered animals, every citizen knows his or her responsibility as long as the environmental conservation is concerned, and also the government has taken its proper measures of ensuring that the environment is always in a good state. From the documentary, I have understood the duties of NEPA and ESA and their relevance in the United States of America as long as the environmental conservation is concerned. The film has also highlighted the two statutes, “National Policy Act,” and “Endangered Species Act,” and hence helping the citizens in understanding their positions as long as the environment is concerned.
