Suitable tourism is becoming critical to promote welfare to the locals while at the same time preserving the authenticity of nature for the generations to follow. The research explores the environmental, economic and social effects of tourism. Leisure was an activity for privileged, wealthy royals. That has changed over the years with evolution in the industry. It is now an everyday activity among people as long as one can afford. Before the term tourism, hospitality was commonly used as early as the 14th century to refer to travel and leisure activities. It originated from the Latin tern hospes which is composed of three words; guest, host and foreigner. Tourism came later in 1772 and had to remain relevant till date (Michailidou, Vlachokostas, Moussiopoulos, and Maleka, 2016). Tourism, on the other hand, come from Greek and Latin words for circle and turn, which meaning cycling away from home and back. The commercialization of tourism first began in 1841 after Thomas Cook established the first tourism and travel agency (Budeanu, Miller, Moscardo, and Ooi, 2016). The industry grew even more with the development of automobiles which made transport more reliable and convenient.it has continued to grow and generate income in nations global.it has however brought about negative influences on the environment and impacted countries and communities socially. This has raised concerns calling for the need to practice suitable tourism. Tourism has many benefits from promoting social and economic welfare to environmental conservation. For instance, social issue such as change indigenous value and culture can be reduced considerably when tourist are encouraged to respect tradition during their stay. Environmental effects, on the other hand, can be reduced by strict ecological laws by local governments of famous travel destination. Suitable tourism is attained through the promotion of positive impact of tourism, which can either be environmental, social or economic.

Finding of the study

Through the use of secondary online sources, the study was able to come up with several findings on the ways to promote suitable tourism. The study amylases the benefits of tourism and how they can be used to encourage proper tourism. These benefits have been categorized into three, namely: environmental, social and economic benefits. Tourism has been known to promote ecological conservation so that nations can keep reaping generating income and also to protect theses areas for the benefit of future generations. The economic benefits, according to the study, are based on income generation. Through tourism, trade is promoted both at a local and international level. Foreign exchange from international tourist also benefits the hosting nation. Lastly, the social benefits of tourism are discussed to determine how it promotes social welfare for local communities. It improves living standards by the creation of job opportunities and enhancing local trade which generates income for individuals.it also promotes culture among other benefits.

Tourism and environmental conservation

One main reason as to why tourists choose a particular destination is to experience a unique and beautiful scenery, such as beaches, waterfalls or freshwater lakes. This encourages the preservation of these destinations that nation can maintain the flow of tourist into their countries; instance, many tourist visits states governments to see wild animals in their natural habitat. This attraction motivates these nations to conserve the natural forests that are homes to these animals. Different organizations have been formed in .these regard to safeguard nature and maintain its untamed natural look for a generation. Awareness of environmental conservation has been discussed on various platforms bring awareness on the matter. Organizations and ecological activities have participated in the issue leading to the formulation of strict environmental policies that have prompted ecological conservation.

The economic impact of tourism

The main goal of tourism is to the generation of income to the local communities. Trade is enhanced through tourism in different sectors of the economy that enhances the living standards of the local people. The hotel and hospitality centres, for instance, relies on both domestic and international tourists to generate income. International trade is the most lucrative has been enhanced between nations (Budeanu, Miller, Moscardo, and Ooi, 2016). Host nations have also benefited from foreign exchange of currencies brought by tourists from different counties. The economy of many countries depends on tourism as one of their most prominent income-generating activity. It also creates employment resulting in income generation from different areas of the economy such as the food and beverages and hospitality and accommodation—development due to tourism stem to provide the tourist with the best experience possible. Infrastructural development is also established, such as roads in tourist destination areas.

Social benefits of tourism

Tourism helps in promoting the welfare of local communities. For instance, tourism destinations are usually equipped with social amenities such as hospitals which end up benefitting the residents as well. It also helps in strengthening the cohesion among different communities through events that attract many participants from different ethnical backgrounds. An example of such an event is the Running of the Bulls festival in Pamplona, Spain which attracts people all over the world (Stainton, 2019).it also creates employment for residents which enhance their living standards. Many tourism destinations preserve their local heritage as it is one of many tourist attraction. Visitors may tour a country such as China due to tit heritage and cultural uniqueness which helps them learn more about a particular community or group of people. Tourism also promotes cultural exchange and exchange of ideas among the locals and visitors, which leads to the development and promotion of social welfare in the long run.

Research outcomes and recommended areas for further research

The result of the study is that suitable tourism is a joint effort of the different stakeholders involved. These are the government, local communities as well as tourists working together to ensure, constant revenue generation for the government, welfare for the local communities and good tourism experience for visitors. Another outcome from the study is that conservation and maintenance of tourist destination are essential. The future generations depend on the current age to conserve such areas so that they too can enjoy these attractions. The area that i will focus on in future is the adverse effects of tourism and ways to mitigate them to promote suitable tourism. I also encourage other researchers to study the area so that more information is available on the subject.

Research methodology and challenges

The research relied on secondary data from online reliable and up to date sources. The sources range within five years, making the data suitable for the study. The data collection tool used was the use of document and reports. The findings were generally tailored towards responding to the research problem, which was to determine ways of promoting suitable tourism. The findings were; appropriate tourism can be developed through utilizing the social, economic and conservational benefits that are accrued from the leisure industry sector. Challenges associated with the study were inadequate data sources on the research topic. Some of the sources were outdated and unreliable. It also took time to sample good sources with reliable data for the study.

Empirical review

A review of continuing and completed research analyzed to come up with current data and methodologies that are appropriate in promoting suitable tourism. The report dresses the following issues;

  • Current knowledge based on online secondary sources of information and completed research on factors that enhance proper tourism are established in the study.
  • Ongoing research on social, economic and environmental factors that contribute to suitable tourism.
