The Hauser classical music concert performance took place at the Lisinski Concert Hall in Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, established in Zagreb, Croatia. The one and a half-hour performance occurred in October 2017 conducted by Elisabeth Fusch and had special guests; Petrit Ceku, the guitarist, Lana Trotovsek, who played violin and lastly Zvjezdice, the chorister. The music orchestrated seems to captivate all the audience around as it is done with great passion with the different instruments available.
Hauser played 17 0f his favorite pieces which included; Benedictus, Pie Jesu, Ave Maria, Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring, Prelude from Cello Suite no. 1, Panis Angelicus, Erbarme Dich, Mein Gott from St. Matthew Passion, Passacagalia, Adagio, Salut d’Amour, Song from a Secret Garden, Mia & Sebastian’s Theme from La La Land, Adagio from Concierto de Aranjuez, The Swan, Hungarian Rhapsody op.68, Tango en Skai and Aria from Bachianas Brasileiras. The concert begins when Hauser bows to the crowd to regard their presence, and they reciprocate by applauding back, and finally, silence followed to give room for performance. The conductor then initiated the event by offering the music’s tempo, seconded by the violin’s introduction. The trumpets, horns, tuba also followed the same sequence. Finally, this created a rhythm in which the bass clarinet and tuttis, as well as the choir, joined in to ensure the concert’s introduction is done well.
From the whole performance, it is observed how some songs are played at a meager pace, and then it picks up as the song proceeds. Whereas on the other hand, it is the opposite, and mostly tuba is used to create a deeper tone to process the required emotion. Also, the bassoon offers the needed sound buzz together with the tuba to form a needed rhythm. Furthermore, to reduce any existing monotony and attract audience attention, Hauser does several musical tricks such as tugging and plunking the violin during the performance.
The use of the flute in the concert also helps to direct the tension created by the violin to other sources like when singing Ave Maria; there was a shift from allegro to high tempo. Moreover, the use of cello is also evident throughout the concert, which, together with violins, sometimes made the rhythm of other instruments go unnoticed.
From the introduction, only I am quite sure that Hauser did enough preparation together with his team to make sure the concert will be captivating to the audience. The performance of each song is done in a unique with more considerable energy and emotions that cannot be ignored. Also, the Song Mia & Sebastian’s Theme from La La Land by J. Hurwitz, the level of unity, enthusiasm, facial expressions portrayed by Hauser makes the Song more interesting to listen to as compared to others. On the other hand, the Song from a Secret Garden describes a lot of betrayal, sadness, and confusion, something that sometimes plagues too in real life. Not to mention, there are short rhythms and prolonged plays accompanied by it that I thought were less attractive.
Ultimately the whole performance was rich in content as well as the songs played. The event was an artistic one due to the passion Hauser and his team portrayed, which enabled the whole mood to be vibrant. Also, the proper synchronization of the instruments at hand enabled the performance to be livelier and fascinate the audience even more.
