The efficiency of United States health care system is deterred by several factors in its delivery, finance, management and sustainability. One main problem is wastage of hospital resources that do not in any way contribute to quality care, for example through overtreatment, uncoordinated care, pricing failures, deception and abuse, poor administration and ineffective care execution processes. Properly coordinating health care is a reform that could go a long way in solving these issues and ensuring quality care and patient outcomes. Care coordination is achieved by proper communication between different hospital sections and proper storage of patient information (Martinez, King, & Cauchi, 2016). This means that if a patient has visited the hospital before, the doctors have accurate data on previous illnesses and relations can be made where possible. Also, doctors in different departments can identify whether an illness can be linked to one already treated by another doctor preventing overtreatment of one condition. Care coordination does not only ensure appropriate care and health outcomes but also promotes cost-cutting and control, and generally improves the health system.

Several stakeholders, including the government, hospital and family representatives and persons with knowledge on the law have to be involved when carrying out health care reforms to allow equal representations.  Health care reforms in US health care system are necessary to ensure health care is affordable to all citizens, all middle-income citizens have access to health insurance and that patients receive quality care and patient outcomes (Jost, 2016). Also, such reforms guarantee that low-income citizens have access to medical services as they are offered discounts for services at hospitals and may also be given free treatments and drugs depending on the illness.
