personal journey that has led you to University of the Cumberlands.
I am an innovative information technology professional having a great experience that is supported by my academic achievements. I have spent a good number of years developing my skills by earning the necessary academic skills to help me build my career. In 2011, I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering, marking a kick-starting step in my career. The knowledge obtained during my undergraduate studies has played a crucial role in making me confident and willing to make changes wherever I go.
I spent three and a half years working as a Systems and Network Engineer after school and realized I needed to add more knowledge. My dreams were great, and I realized I needed more knowledge to help in contacting research for manufacturing companies that needed automated systems to be in line with technology. Therefore, I joined a master’s program in Computer Science in 2016 and completed in 2017. The qualifications I had at the time helped to get a job as an assistant systems engineer. However, I have not reached the highest level of my dream, and I have decided to further my studies by joining the University of Cumberlands. The information I have on the University of Cumberlands makes me long to learn in it since it offers excellent doctorate programs that can only be defined as the best.
What are your research interests in the area of information technology? How did you become interested in this area of research?
My research interests lie primarily in cloud computing. Over the years, I have learned that firms are facing challenges in their efforts to develop hosted services over the internet. With the world being at an era where everything is going digital, the demand for cloud computing services is set to grow even higher. The benefits associated with cloud computing over traditional web hosting will capture the attention of any serious web developer. Therefore, my desire to innovate has pushed me into basing my research on this field since it is subject to continue needing innovations and inventions. I attribute my interest in cloud computing to the experience I gained while working as a Systems and Network Engineer after graduate school and as an assistant systems engineer after my master’s studies. I could easily see the challenges faced by the organizations I worked for, and that pushed my interests even further. I would appreciate any opportunity to develop my skills in achieving my research goals.
What is your current job/career and how will this program impact your career growth?
I am currently working as a Production Support Specialist on the ITIL/ ITSM Project, hence my interest in this program. My job responsibilities require high-level skills, and this program is the right one for equipping me with the necessary skills. First, I will be able to Support and help enterprise-class customers with intermediate technical production. I will also be able to independently engage in research to solve the issues affecting my organization. The technical issues faced in the organization always call for ownership, and solutions are based on the ability to research deeply. Therefore, this program will ensure that I am the right person to work in any department that requires my career specialization skills. I have always desired to get an opportunity to build my career to the highest possible level. This program presents an opportunity to be the best IT professional and will help me achieve my dreams of helping firms to succeed in their innovative ideas. The updating and upgrading skills in the IT department are not new, and any program promising that is a great step towards a successful IT career.
What unique qualities do you think you have that will help you in being successful in this program?
Perseverance has always been my strength all through my previous experiences. PHD programs require scholars to move beyond human knowledge limits and provide relevant solutions to real-time issues. Besides, the requirement to convince a panel of professors through the presentation of a research thesis might make one afraid of pursuing a PHD program. However, I am equipped with a set of skills that will help me to soar successfully through the challenges that might come my way.
My experience in the information technology industry is the first quality that gives me confidence in applying for the program. Since I enrolled for my undergraduate degree, I knew I had to do everything to succeed in my career, and I have given everything to overcome all the challenges that have come my way. Besides, courses in information technology are demanding, and perseverance has been my greatest weapon. After my undergraduate studies, I have worked in the IT industry and also done a master’s degree in the same field, and thus I am confident that I have all it takes to succeed in the course.
Passion also plays a crucial role in determining whether or not a person succeeds in their field of study. I have a strong interest in information technology, which is what I have been doing throughout my life in school and after school. I am committed to ensuring that I emerge at the top of my career, and this program is one of the highest steps I will have made in life. With passion, I love innovation and consistency, which are essential qualities in the IT industry.
How can obtaining a doctorate impact your contribution to the practices of information technology? Where do you see yourself after obtaining a doctorate from UC?
Obtaining a doctorate will come with unmatchable skills and knowledge, which will contribute positively towards an excellent career in Cloud Computing. Professional orientation is always the primary requirement for any professional, and a doctorate will equip me with that. The practices of information technology are subject to constant changes due to technology, and that requires flexibility. The nature of doctorate programs is that scholars are expected to learn flexibility skills to adjust to the various course requirements. Therefore, I am determined that the program will mold me into a flexible professional. A doctorate from the University of Cumberlands will put me high in the IT industry and use my skills and knowledge to solve the issues affecting firms and organizations in the industry. I will be kind enough to pass my knowledge to others if allowed to study and complete my studies at the University of Cumberlands.
