Clinical Practice
Clinical practice guidelines are statements developed systematically to help nursing practitioners and patients to make the right decisions regarding the appropriate healthcare for a specific clinical practice. A good clinical practice is the one that is based on the internationally accepted clinical quality standards. According to Cucolo et al (648), a trustworthy clinical practice should offer the rating of the quality of the evidence and also the strength of recommendation, consider the values of patients, and be developed by a panel of experts. Several instruments have been developed to access the ability of patients to manage medications. Such instruments should be well validated for healthcare professionals to achieve reliability.
If I was a clinician in practice, I would choose the instruments to use properly so that I can perform a proper diagnostic for my patients. I will be very keen on the instruments that I use in the diagnostic process because a proper diagnosis leads to proper treatment (Fernandez et al 1417). In my case, I would prefer modern technology instruments because they will help me a lot in my healthcare practice. First, I will pay attention to modern cancer screening tools to help me facilitate discussions about lung cancer screening by using the low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) (Palese 71). Such instruments will enable me to reach to new decisions regarding cancer illness, especially lung cancer.
In my nursing practice also, I will use a broad range of health information technology tools (health instruments). According to Kramer (572), the nursing environment is changing rapidly with the growing technology globally. Nurses and other healthcare practitioners should also get adapted to the technology to ensure reliability in their healthcare practice. In my case, I won’t be since I want to try using electronic healthcare records (EHRs) during my nursing practice. These IT healthcare instruments will help me to undertake proper diagnostic testing, make the right clinician decisions, and facilitate information exchange (Cucolo et al 650). IT health instruments will also help me offer safety to my patients during the whole treatment process.
As a clinician in practice, I would also like to use sensors and wearable technology because such instruments have not been available to me. This is an instrument that will help me collect patients’ data when I’m giving a diagnosis. It will also greatly help me in determining the skin PH levels of my patients. I would also like to use a stethoscope. I have never used this instrument before but I’m aware of its value in the nursing environment (Fernandez et al 1418). During my clinical practice, I will again use the instrument to hear sounds of movements within the body of my patients such as intestinal movements, heartbeats, and breath sounds. Other instruments that I would like to use are Mhealth, telemedicine, and portal technology. These modern instruments will help me access the medical records of my patients and undertake proper diagnosis for better results.
Conclusively, several instruments can be used in the healthcare professional field but most of them are unreliable. Choosing the right instruments is, therefore, a good determiner of the quality of healthcare service to be provided. As a nurse in practice, I should ensure the reliability of my instruments because this will help me produce consistent and reliable results. After choosing the instruments that I should use, I should be able to determine their validity and reliability to guide me in providing the right healthcare service to my clients and patients.
