The Prison System

For over centuries, the prison systems of countries differ based on the number of prisons, services they offer, and the size of the prison. The only form of punishment for law-breakers is through the prison system. People are sentenced to spend a significant part of their life in small rooms, which leave a remarkable toll on their experiences in many different categories, such as mental health. Prisoner’s daily activities take place according to a regular schedule. In prison, correctional officers enforce rules, supervise activities, aid in rehabilitation, and report inmate’s conduct based on a daily routine such as wake-up, roll-calls, physical exercise, breakfast, class, group therapy, lunch, vocational training, sinner, and drug-rehabilitation.

Prison life is much different from living a normal life without restriction, there is always a system tor guidance and follow up once people are locked in prison their mind-set on how to communicate and live changes. At 3:30 AM, the first inmates who are supposed to work in the kitchen are awakened to prepare breakfast. These prisoners are escorted with correctional officers, and a thorough search is done to them before they enter the kitchen and prepare meals. All prisoners are awakened at 6 AM for roll-calls. Correctional officers count them, and then the feeding of breakfast begins. All prisoners then shift for physical activities; some go to the gym, recreational yards, and canteens.

Inmates work and study up to midday when they a 30 minutes break for lunch. After taking lunch, vocational training is offered to them. During the training, they are taught how to survive after leaving prisons by showing them some marketing they can use to find employment. They are trained in doing plumbing, carpentry, and teaching. Vocational training programs are done to prisoners to teach them the general skills needed for specific jobs. Vocational training also helps inmates in making constructive work schedule without being idle. Besides, the training can be scheduled in a way that can assist in the operation of prisons by making inmates help in prison, maintaining tasks.

When inmates get back to prison after leaving various places of training, they must be searched. They get cleaned up as they wait for supper, which begins at 5 PM. After super, they may change their clothes in the prison clothe-house. Inmates with health problems then report to the health petitioners for counseling or medical appointments while the rest go to the prison yard. By 7 PM, they are locked in the dormitory. They are only allowed to leave if they take part in religious activities and other programs. All programs are closed by 9 PM, and all prisoners return to their dormitories to be counted again. At 10:30 PM, the lights are switched off in the sleeping area, and inmates remain in their rooms. They may watch Television, play cards or games.

In conclusion, prisoners have a schedule to be followed to ensure the daily smooth running of activities. Gone are the days when prisoners used to be locked inside dark rooms for the whole day. According to this system, prisoners are allowed to take part in different activities such as preparing breakfast, cleaning, and taking part in vocational training. Inmates are given meals at a specific period without failure. Prisons are now not places to go lock up lawbreakers but to offer training and activities which prepare them to survive after leaving the prison.
