Vogue like zines (500 words total)
After I had a portfolio review with the artists that came in all of them had pointed out that my work would look great as a magazine front cover or an album cover. With that I wanted to explore making art magazines for this project. I came across vogue magazine that was issued between 1950s to 1960s. for these projects I wanted to create zines in the style of vouge. when I was researching vouge, vouge is original from France, but the word vouge comes the Italian word voga ‘rowing, fashion’ so for the each one I looked to the Italian words like mask Kurdish is Curda.
Female empowerment- (125 word)
I looked at helen green for this project. I wanted to show women as a powerful figure in a vogue fashionable way.
Kurdistan/ Kurdish jewellery – (125 words)
As I am Kurdish, I wanted to do some that I am close to. That way I wanted to show the Kurdish culture. I also looked at Kurdish jewellery .
Mask-(125 words )
In many countries where a mask is now norm and some have to if they want to go into public places. As this is the case many places see masks a fashionable item now. This might influence the fashion industry to make it a the next big fashion item. For this project I used magazines to create a collage and give the models masks, to show what magazine might look like soon.
Secret 7 – (300 word)
For this project I had to create an album covers for each of the following 7 songs:
- Aretha Franklin – One Step Ahead
- Bob Dylan – Blind Willie McTell
- Foo Fighters – This Is A Call
- The Internet – Come Over
- Koffee – Toast
- Miles Davis – Miles Runs The Voodoo Down
- Vampire Weekend – Harmony Hall
My first intentions were to research each song. This to find the meaning or story behind each song. However, when I was able to do this project, I only had 2 days left before the deadline. Due to this I had to change the way I was going to tackle this. Instead I thought it will be best for me to listen each song and create a collage to the way I feel. After that I scanned each collage in to edited it to make it look like covers that you might find with modern pop songs. For this I looked at the artist Vaughan Oliver.
Children book- covid-19 with Monty – (300 words)
After the feedback I got from …… they wanted me to do some about my pet bird Monty and the situation we are in. I was thinking of a way to combine the two into one project. For that I came with a children book. After doing some research about children book, I wanted to a young children picture book or Early reader for the ages 5 to 7. For this I looked at the artist Rachel Suzanne. For this book I wanted to create some thig children during this time in quarantine. Therefore, I tried to make it a active book where they are able to colour in Monty and many other things.
