Conditions: Essay question will be given to students, in Term 2, Week 2, Thursday 7th May. Students will work on their essay in class and at home. Students must complete a hand-written draft and an edited good copy. Good copy should be typed using font size 12, 1.5 spacing. A completed 5 paragraph essay, up to 800 words can be uploaded to Connect Submissions as a Word Doc or PDF (Pages is not accepted).

What you will learn:
· How narrative conventions and language features are used to explore values, attitudes and ideas in the novel. · How to structure an analytical essay using the conventions of essay writing. · How to use quotes and examples to support your answer. Task:
· Students will read and analyse a novel in class. · Students will write an analytical essay using the key terms values and attitudes. · Students will consider how the author has used narrative conventions and language to reflect values and attitudes. This task will assess:
· Your ability to recognise how values and attitudes are explored in texts. · Your ability to identify and explain how narrative conventions and language features are used to create meaning. · Your ability to use evidence (examples and quotes) from the novel to support your. · Your ability to structure your essay. · Your written expression including, word choice, grammar and syntax.
