Tell me where the space or gallery is located in the museum/church – What is the name of the exhibition that the gallery is a part of? – What is the theme or purpose of the gallery/space –e.g. does it contain works from the same period, geographical location, or artist? Describe the general theme and give an overview of the works exhibited together. Is the theme successful? Is it engaging? What did you learn from it? Did you like it? – How thorough is the provided information? Choose two works of art that are displayed near each other. State their artists if possible, cultures, titles, dates, etc. Describe them. Now compare/contrast them to each other. For example: what do they have in common? And how are they different from each other? Is there a philosophy that inspired the artist or culture in regards to this work? Is there any religious or political meaning? What purposes did it serve when it was made? Why is it significant? -How did the work’s meaning change when displayed in the museum? How does it change online? How does this work of art relate to contemporary issues in the world at large? -Use your research to tell the story of the work of art. Personal Response/Critique – What affect does the work have on you? Why did you choose this work? Has it altered your thinking or feeling? State your purpose in a Thesis Statement and write a clear and definitive conclusion that packages your paper and brings everything together.
