A man and his culture
Culture is people’s way of life. it is the social behavior of a particular group of people, their beliefs, the norms, the customs, the people’s capabilities and also their practices. culture brings people together as it sets the goals to be achieved and it ensures that people have a sense of belonging. Cultures also provide an identity to the people, and it does not matter how big or small the community is. the video ‘A Man and his Culture’ provides vivid examples of how different people behave, making it their culture. From the video, different cultures have their ways of life, and they are all comfortable with it. while they differ in their habits and attitudes, they face the same problems which they develop different solutions some of the similarities in the cultures include; taking care of their material welfare, providing shelter for themselves, getting tools to help them satisfy their wants and how to provide food for themselves. cultures differ depending on the places of origin of the people, their geographical locations and the changes in the course of their history. Just as history changes people, people also change history. This means that history is not constant as it keeps changing with time. culture is also passed from one generation to another and in the process, new aspects of the culture may be learnt and others may be lost. culture influences biological processes in that it determines who to marry and who not to marry. This leads to people of the same culture conceiving and giving birth to children who are of the same culture. This then leads to richer and more advanced cultures feeling more superior than the weaker and the poorer ones. They see them as undeserving, and they treat them unfairly and poorly. This is called racism. My experience with racisms was when I read about the history of the explorers and the colonizers of Africa. While most African cultures upheld their beliefs and habits, the colonizers saw them as primitive hence taking advantage of them. this led to them being enslaved, their land grabbed and their resources are taken.
