The collaborative evaluation model
The collaborative evaluation model is indeed the most appropriate evaluation theory that can support the program plan. Unlike the other participation-oriented evaluation approaches, as Davis highlight, its ability to incorporate study participants in the evaluation team, increases the practicability of the evaluation, improving its usefulness (Mertens & Wilson, 2018). What is important to add is that collaborative evaluation achieves practicability because it makes program participants become part of the evaluating team, making them willing to participate in evaluation tasks.
Also of essence is Davis’ disclosure of the significance of the implementation stage of collaborative Evaluation. It is pointed out that at this stage, participants are required to collaborate by completing questionnaires. The questions reveal participants’ attitudes towards research, collaboration during practice, and their level of know-how on the management of memory disorders. The results obtained from such questionnaires can be used as a guide toward the process of decision-making, assessing, and regarding participants’ interactions within the chosen program, as Davis highlights (Núñez et al., 2014). Meaning, collaborative evaluation promotes participation using assessment as a means for enhancing programs that serve participants better.
What is important to note is that it is critical to ascertain whether the anticipated evaluation mechanisms are pertinent to the valuation of community action. For instance, before setting out the timeline of evaluation, it would be necessary for one to scrutinize the applicability of the chosen implementation methods for collaborative evaluation (Núñez et al., 2014). This depicts that in order to make collaborative evaluation more useful, evaluators have the task of ensuring the improvement of evaluation activities through the creation of environments that attract and facilitate the participation of people based on applicable evaluation mechanisms.
