Comedic satire and politics
Introduction
Politics and comic satire have been wrapped up in the Acharnians play. Aristophanes has evident the uses of the two in the Babylonians play during the attack of the city. This context has given the reason for the use and inability to separate the two. With the help of examples from the play, the context has cited the working of the combination and the shortcomings of separation.
In the Acharnians play, Aristophanes uses great humor to return fire on Lenaia, thus causing a political fight with the Acharnians. This great humor renews Babylonians’ attacks on Athens’ politics and misguided politicians, as said. Dikaiopolis critiques Sparta, thus making a separate peace. He offered a self-defense speech before the step of defending the enemy. This great speech with humor brings division in the struggle to fight with the enemy. These crimes by Dikaiopolis were equal with Aristophanes tactics of bringing the war to the Lenaia. Satire has been used by these great leaders to bring division amongst the states and the citizens. The comic satire has enabled the leaders to gain momentum and positive impact from some of their supporters and to hide the reality in their stand. These wrapped up contexts have built character in the leaders but hammering their states and the innocent citizens who get tempered in support of their leaders of choice.
Conclusion
In conclusion, politics and satire have gone hand in hand for leaders to gain great support from their subjects and citizens. Though impacting the nations negatively, most of the leaders have taken the two as the measures to gaining support, not regarding the lives of many citizens should the move bring chaos and negativity. This has well enabled the leaders to hide their characters and blackmailing people of what is supposed to be put up.
