Typically, a project is a service or product that has a specified requirement, motive, timeline, and budget. Project planning is an imperative part of a project to succeed. The following are the stages employed throughout the project; communication, monitoring risks, managing resources, planning, and delivering results.
Moreover, projects vary in size ranging from one person doing their school assignment to two or more persons cooperating with billion-dollar spending plans. Mainly, planning a project has various limitations such as scope, quality, cost, timeline, and resources. A service or product can be considered distinctive when a requirement or the product requires a specific requirement. Further, this could include the design of new processes such as new service to the team.
Moreover, the project has different phases such as planning, implementation, initiation, and closure.
The project is deemed complete when all the four stages are complete and all the requirements are fulfilled. Besides, the project is always delivered at the expected time and within the set budget with the satisfaction of a client.
Planning a project plays a crucial role in explaining as well as comprehending the stakeholders, business, client, team, and project manager throughout the project. Arranging of tasks in a project requires various activities such as identifying the requirements, avoiding delays, removing
risks and also delivering products on time as requested by clients.
Project planning also requires planning the phase, separating the tasks, and also making a decision of the timeline over which the task is to be completed. At this stage, goals are set to ensure that all the requirements are accomplished.
Project management is vital since it guarantees the product or service being delivered as per the client’s requirements and this conveys a genuine motive against the business opportunity and gives a clear direction of the project. Moreover, good project management practices ensure the goals of the project are met and that the project is delivered on time.

There are four phases in a project; planning, initiation, implementation, and closure.
Project Initiation
This is the first phase of a project. It is a phase in which project feasibility and value are measured. Typically, project managers utilize two evaluation tools to make resolutions on whether or not to pursue the project.
Project Planning
Upon receiving the green light, a project needs a solid plan to guide the project team on time as well as on budget. A well laid out project plan gives guidance to not only obtaining resources and acquiring finances but also in procuring materials.
Project Execution
This phase is mainly associated with project management. Implementation involves building deliverables that satisfy the client’s needs. The project leaders ensure that it happens by keeping the project members focused on their assigned tasks and also allocating resources.
- Project Closure
The team members usually close a project once they have delivered the finished project to the client, communicating to stakeholders about the completion of the projects and lastly, releasing materials to other projects. This phase is essential as it allows the team members to assess and document the project. It also enables them to move on to the next project using the previous project successes and mistakes to build stronger processes as well as more successful teams.
I do feel that my understanding on the reflections from the readings for week four was important to me since I have gained some knowledge and understanding on the requirements of a project, for instance, ensuring what is being delivered to a customer is correct and that it will deliver the real value against the business opportunity. I have also gained some skills, for instance, problem-solving as well as additional skills such as time management.
