Child and Adolescent Psychology: Multiple Intelligence Strengths and Weaknesses

Intelligence in itself is such an abstract concept whereby one definition cannot adequately include what other people consider is intelligence but generally regarded as intellectual capability. Howard Gardner came up with the theory of multiple intelligence in a bid to shed light on intelligence. Gardner argues that there are about eight types of intelligence and not generally like it has always been assumed (Cherry, 2019)

According to Gardner. Verbal skills, for instance, ensures that one is gifted in activities such as speaking, teaching, and listening as well. When one has musical intelligence, they can produce rhythm, pitch, and tone that is aesthetically pleasing. Kinaesthetic Intelligence grants you the ability to skillfully move your body, such as in dancers and athletes. Intrapersonal Intelligence is more to do with being self-aware, whereas interpersonal is having empathy for others and being in their shoes. Naturalist intelligence makes one aware of their connection with the environment, whereas existential intelligence makes one introspect and thinks deeply on issues such as their purpose of existence. He also mentions spatial intelligence as the ability to visualize objects in three dimensions. Finally, vor logical intelligence gives one the ability to think logically and abstractly.

I am well in tune with my feelings and how I relate to other people (intrapersonal). I also have considerably excellent social skills in as much as I am an introvert. As a naturalist, I pay close attention to my natural environment. I hope to improve on these by getting out of my comfort zone, especially with regards to interacting with people. I am an introvert; thus, improving my communication skills would help improve my social skills. I also intend to actualize my naturalist intelligence by actively participating in the conservation of our vand increasing my plant collection.
