Week 1 & 2 Journal Entry
Over the last two weeks, I have learned various several marketing skills that are crucial to every organization. It is worth noting that every profit and nonprofit organization deals with clients. The content I have learned in units 1 and 2 is essential in such organizations to understand the best practices to attract and retain such clients. The key things that I have learned in the last two weeks include effective decision making, research, customer satisfaction, awareness of the customer’s buying behavior, and excellent listening skills. All these factors are essential for the success of any business. They were all dealt in depth in the two units, thus giving me the know-how of how marketing looks like and the universal application of the marketing skills.
The workplace is a platform where clients and business owners interact. It is also an origin of the products or services that an organization sells. The marketing knowledge obtained from the two units has a tight relationship with such workplaces. Without proper market research, the organization cannot understand how to handle customers since marketing also involves how the customers feel about how he/she was served. Excellent listening skills are crucial in the workplace. It enables customer’s attendants to establish a good relationship with customers and their colleagues. Critical decision-making skills are essential in the workplace. It allows an organization to analyze the customers buying behavior and act according to their taste and preferences.
Marketing skills gained in units 1 and 2 are applicable in all aspects of our lives. As marketing is all about making customers like the company and its product, a person, such skills will help me to know how to establish good relationships and connections with the people I always or will interact with them. For example, it will help me understand how to build a lasting friendship with my friends. As far as professional development is concerned, such skills will prepare me to be a professional who builds sustainable workplace friendships. Also, they will help me to always put effort into any project assigned to me such that the result will satisfy my clients.
