Proposal for Solving Unemployment

According to Leiserson, unemployment is a situation where people search for a job but cannot find them (103-117). This is caused by various reasons that come from both the demand side or employer and the supply side of the employee. The demand side may be caused by high-interest rates, global decline, and financial adversity. Various methods can solve this crisis, as discussed below.

Encouraging farming in rural areas

Agriculture employs most of the young people in society, and it can act as one of the long term remedies to solve the unemployment crisis. Therefore, improving agriculture in rural areas by subsidizing farm inputs will absorb most of the productive people. This will act as full employment, thus reducing rural-urban migration, which will moderate redundancy in urban areas. Many youths have enough knowledge but lack capital to start self-employment, such as food production. If they can be provided with the required money, they can create more jobs for others (Gilligan 12-20). Lack of farm inputs and the market for farm produce has been a challenge despite various attempts to improve the agriculture sector. Providing essential requirements for farmers will encourage farming among the unemployed and create more jobs for others in return. Alternatively, agriculture will provide the raw materials required by manufacturing Industries and thus create employment opportunities for individuals living in cities. This remedy will empower the unemployed financially and therefore ease crime rates brought about by joblessness in urban areas.

Change in the education system

The education system in various countries is the cause of unemployment in the job market. This is because many graduates have the qualification to do multiple jobs but lack the required skills. In this perspective, reforming the education sector to provide expertise to the learners will act as a long term remedy to the unemployment crisis. Encouraging the government to provide higher education loans will empower learners financially to pursue various skilled courses and, in return, create more jobs for others.

As Collins Powel once remarked, ‘‘Problems are to be solved though we cannot get away with them”. In this regard, I have an experience of the same back in school life. Being the head captain in high school days gave me the responsivity of eliminating the bullying menace, which was particularly aimed at form ones and newcomers. This crime resulted in increased school dropouts as well as the high crime rate in villages. Additionally, illiteracy was rising at a significant rate within the society due to the notion that schools were places where the discrimination took place rather than a safe place for learning.  I managed to mentor fellow students on how to be brother’s keeper by campaigning against bullying in schools. This, in return, helped to combat the rise in school dropouts, which was increasing at an alarming rate.  In respect to this scenario, I learned that problems could be easily solved rather than blame games directed to one another in society.

Radical change

This refers to a change that occurs relatively quickly to modify the existing social problems within a society. In this regard, being in a government agency advocating for an individual policy, this is what should be focused rather than an incremental change of events. It can be acknowledged that, once systems are set, then the government has enough finance required to set necessary standards. In this perspective, given 2-3 years to implement a given policy, piloting should be done to ascertain the plan policy’s effectiveness. Consequently, the creation of new organizations, departments, agencies, and bureaus will fasten the processes of policy implementation at a reasonable time (Ćwiklicki 175). Organizations created should be tasked with the responsibility of collecting public views and suggestions then bring the recommendations to determine the extent to which the policy can be implemented. Involving the public will confirm awareness and therefore inspire full participation. A personal point of view, government policies should be done quickly within the possible time available to benefit the public and bring accountability to government agencies. Once state policies are done at the incremental state, it creates loopholes for corrupt individuals, and thus public funds end up being looted and, therefore, not accounted for.

Difference between Resilience and Courage

Resilience refers to knowing how to live despite encounters (Folke 154). It is a measure of how much someone wants something and how much one is willing to stun hindrances to get it done. However, courage refers to the ability to do something that alarms or terrifies others. At personal perspectives, I would choose resilience over the nervousness. This is because life challenges are specific, and the former enables us to develop mechanisms for defense against experiences, which could be devastating. It helps us to retain balance in our lives during severe or traumatic periods.Similarly, it comforts us against developing mental health complications and issues.
