Protected characteristics that are covered by equal employment opportunity laws ensure employees are secured against employment discrimination on the basis of sex, race, color, nationality, age or religion. The implementation of Civil Rights Acts of 1964 guaranteed that people will be subjected to equal employment opportunities without any form of biasness. Specifically, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act banned any form of work bigotry hence enabling African Americans to break down obstacles in a workplace (Bourne, 2014). This topic is important because it paves way to understand employment prejudice and its impacts on the employees and job seekers. Employment discrimination has evolved to different forms in the recent past shifting away from earlier forms which were based on person’s features. Evidence has revealed that current discrimination practices are subtle and furtive types such as pestering, intimidation and micro aggressions. The implementation of Civil Rights Acts played a key role in addressing the challenges brought about by biasness in an organization but it did not fully eliminate unfairness as witnessed with the new forms of chauvinism.

The impacts of Civil Rights Acts of 1964 had positive and negative impacts on the employees, employers and employment agencies. The notable outcome was the equal employment opportunity that all Americans had after forbidding of discrimination at work environment during hiring, termination, reprisals, promotions, compensations etc. African Americans had opportunities to work at various companies holding different positions. There was an increase in employment rate for everybody especially the ones that were previously subjected to discrimination (Hersch, 2015). The law also protected workers against prejudice and those found guilty were charged under the federal law. As a result, there was an increase in labor cases against the natives who were still ignoring the Civil Rights Acts for equal rights.

In addition to improving the labor markets in terms of increased employment rate, there was also a spike in wages and salaries for the black Americans in different economic sectors. Title VII obligation for nondiscriminatory led to higher hiring of minority staff compared to white workers. The companies took advantage of this influx by hiring personnel at discounted wages. The organizations were saving a lot hence increasing their profits. The discounted wages and salaries were lower than what was paid to white counterparts but it was high enough to meet the salary range for the minority work forces. Education level and skills determined the amount one was to be given in regards to the position that he holds regardless of gender, race, age, nationality etc. An increase in income improved living status and welfare for the people.

Title VII of the Civil Rights Acts of 1964, paved way for evolution of new bigotry at working places. The initial forms of discrimination were on the basis on race, color, sex, gender and nationality, which were comparable between various groups that can be sited into stratified groupings. The recent forms are subjective to blatant and sneaky ways such as harassing and coercion. Sexual harassment has been the highlight form of discrimination in the recent past. Employers have been taking advantage by asking sexual favors from employees or job hunters in return to favor them. Unqualified people have been hired or promoted undeservingly while individuals who don’t give in to such approaches have been fired unceremoniously. This form of discrimination has negative impacts on business (Aiken, 2017). Appointment of unskilled personnel and dismissal of skilled workforce results to poor performance of the firm.

Equal employment opportunities have had a positive impression on my job search endeavors because it is possible to be considered for any job that I apply as long as I have met the required qualifications.

In conclusion, Title VII of the Civil Rights Acts of 1964 has improved the welfare of people by creating more employment opportunities and protecting minority group in work places.
