Fallacies of ambiguity

Fallacy refers to an idea that is believed by people to be correct but false in reality because of its wrong information or reasoning. Ambiguity implies a situation where the meaning of the word or phrase changes within the course of an argument.

Mr Levy shows excessive pride over the excellently recognized efforts of the public school Chancellor in New York. He understands the importance and advantages of public schools and the excellent work done by the Chancellor. However, the fallacy of ambiguity manifests when he takes his two children to Manhattan`s private school. Ambiguousness displays in Mr Levy`s actions by creating an actual image from the false reality of public schools while the truth remains that private schools are the best. The fallacy of ambiguity out shows from the narrator`s action of considering several private schools, and in reality, he sent his children to a private school.

The fallacy of composition has out shown in the paragraph when Mr Levy boasts about the good nature of public schools in New York and thinks that all Public Schools are excellent. The reality denotes that maybe because of the Chancellors efforts in New York, the public schools are good, and that does not mean all public schools are excellent. The narrator holds that Mr Levy should put his children in public schools; hence all parents should take their children to public schools.

The fallacy of composition is evident in Edmond Kelly` paragraph, whereby the ordered structure for a single industry gets considered as an adverse occurrence for the whole economy. Besides, the fallacy of ambiguity is evident in the fact that wage structure gets deemed to be good while the truth remains that it is a bad thing for the economy.
