Unauthorized immigrants
Thesis
Unauthorized immigrants who are in the United States will need healthcare services, and they have to be attended to since if they fail to get the healthcare services that they require, then it will affect their ability to be productive. Different articles support that even though they are unauthorized , they deserve to access the healthcare services. These articles include:
Marrow, H. B. (2012). The power of local autonomy: expanding health care to unauthorized immigrants in San Francisco. Ethnic and Racial Studies, 35(1), 72-87.
The article explains that there is a need to develop a mechanism for how unauthorized immigrants can access healthcare services without having the healthcare practitioners worry about how they will be paid for the services offered. Unauthorized immigrants do not have health insurance cover and thus making it difficult for them to access healthcare services because they are expensive. Therefore, the government is trying to come up with ways in which these immigrants will get the healthcare over so that the services will be affordable to them, hence ensuring that they get quality healthcare services.
Stimpson, J. P., Wilson, F. A., & Su, D. (2013). Unauthorized immigrants spend less than other immigrants and US natives on health care. Health Affairs, 32(7), 1313-1318.
According to this article, unauthorized immigrants do not benefit much from the affordable care act or health care insurance because they have limited chances of getting the cover. And when they are insured, they get little funds as compared to the Native Americans. Reforms need to be done so that more options of getting health cover will be made available to the immigrants. The nation should consider ensuring that all those in America, including unauthorized immigrants, get cover for healthcare so that they can lead healthy lives, thus enabling them to be productive because healthy individuals are productive in the society.
Viladrich, A. (2012). Beyond welfare reform: reframing undocumented immigrants’ entitlement to health care in the United States, a critical review. Social Science & Medicine, 74(6), 822-829.
This article addresses the argument of different authors of various articles that the unauthorized immigrants deserve to have health cover so that they can access healthcare services easily. The discussion of most of the authors, according to this article, is that unauthorized immigrants are productive. Thus they contribute to the economic growth of the nation therefore, they need to be given a chance to access healthcare services so that they can remain healthy hence being productive in society. The changes being advocated for will enable unauthorized immigrants to access healthcare services because they will be allowed to take health cover, thus ensuring that they can receive healthcare services when they need them.
Amuedo-Dorantes, C., Puttitanun, T., & Martinez-Donate, A. P. (2013). How do tougher immigration measures affect unauthorized immigrants?. Demography, 50(3), 1067-1091.
The article explains that the tougher measures that have been put in place to prevent unauthorized immigrants from moving to America have made lives difficult for the unauthorized immigrants who are already in America because they do not access any social services. These services include healthcare services, so when they fall sick, they suffer since accessing healthcare services is not easy. Since they are suffering, the government should allow them to access medical services so that they can work, thus enabling them to survive until they decide to go back to their nations or acquire papers that enable them to stay freely as authorized immigrants in the United States.

Even children who are born in the United States thus qualifying to be citizens are facing challenges in accessing healthcare services thus the need to changing the laws on immigrants so that all can have a chance to access medical services through obtaining medical cover that will make the healthcare services affordable to them. Reviewing the laws will ensure that children and other unauthorized immigrants get access to healthcare services.
