Chapter 1

Question 1

I will start my career when I am of 25 years old. I expect to graduate with my first degree at the age of 24 years old and the allowance of one year will be the maximum period that I will require to have found a stable job. Thereafter, I will work for another five years then buy a house, meaning I expect to own a house at the age of 25 years. I consider the five years as enough period to buy a house because I will have saved some money and risen in the place of employment to the extent that I can use part of my monthly salary to secure a mortgage and be left with some money for personal use. Besides, I intend to get married at the age of 27 years old, two years after securing an employment and have a child at the age of 29 years old.

Question 2

The one nurture that has contributed to making me the person I am is being taught to be responsible. From a tender age, my parents instilled in me the sense of responsibility. I do not just sit and watch things happen in a manner they should not happen. Similarly, I go out of my way to correct mistakes, both personal and for other people. Moreover, as responsible person, I have learned to plan my activities, events and goals in life, because if I do not do that then the resulting disorganization might be costly.

Question 3

A correlational research is a non-experimental research method where a researcher measures variables, usually two, to understand the statistical association or relationship between them without the influence of an unrelated variable. This method of research allows analysis of relationships among many variables in a single study. However, the limitation of the method is that a correlation may not necessarily reveal the real cause and effect.  On the other hand, an experimental research method is where variables are controlled through a careful measurement to establish the relationships between the cause and effect (McLeod, 2012). The benefit of experimental method is that is possible to control variables. The limitation of this method is that the results may apply only in one situation and difficult to replicate.

Question 4

The most important ethical guideline to uphold is seeking ethical consent of potential study subjects. It is important that people are involved in research where they give their permission. It is unethical to include people in research without their knowledge or use their data without permission. Instead, participation in research should be voluntary without coercion or violation of personal rights to privacy.
