- What is the title of the article and who is the author?
The title of the article is “women don’t just face a pay gap at work. They are punished far more than men”. The author of the article is the African Union.
- What is the article’s thesis statement? (this may have to be put in your own words if not directly stated)
The article explores about discrimination of women at the workplace based on payment. Women are paid way less compared to men.
- In your own words, what is the article about? (try to express this objectively in 2-4 sentences- avoid a lot of detail)
The article is about of women and minorities population at the workplace. Women and black employees are paid unequally as compared to men and white employees. Besides, they also receive more punishment as compared to men, specifically white males.
- Is the author credible/believable? Provide two or three examples of how you know (give page numbers for specific examples).
The author is credible since the article has been written in the recent timeline and also he uses real factual examples through writing his article. For instance, the story of Betty Duke occurred in 2018 and the article was published in 2018.
Additionally, the article is a credible source since it has been published by Time magazine, which is an American new weekly magazine that was published in New York in 1923. This is a magazine that has established good credit with the American citizens.

The author is credible since he has provided statistics from 2018, which states that approximately $900 was lost for women holding a full-time job. A second example is that of Betty Dukes that sued Walmart Greeter organization for gender discrimination. This is one main reason that leads to the conduct of the study. Therefore, the authors credible since he uses facts and does not incent his ideas.

For Example Betty Dukes systematic gender discrimination affects the emotion of the reader. TH writer is trying to make the reader feel sympathetic for the woman of how she suffered for punishments that were supposed to be taken by men. The author aims to make the reader judge harshly the Walmart organization for advocating gender discrimination.

The purpose of the writer is to inform the reader about gender discrimination foe women and minor employees that is advocated in the current organization. His point is that this is not written and individuals should unite and form movements to end this form of gender discrimination.

The examples used by the writer are effective to the reader since he uses a real statistic that is applicable in the current organization. The author has done enough research statistics to come up with the publication and hence, he includes enough evidence to prove his point.

Readers can write about ways to eliminate gender bias in the workplace. They can incorporate strategies like; supporting women in more senior roles, reviewing salaries and standardizing pay for both genders and implementing gender-neutral recruitment processes. These are some of the strategies to reduce gender discrimination.
