Housing, healthcare issues, and public safety
In my opinion, I feel that there are several pressing and significant issues facing communities today and we should show concern for. These concerns include housing, healthcare issues, and public safety. To start with, housing concerns are HUGE! I mean the population of homeless families, seniors, and veterans frustrates me to no end! The issue of housing has been compounded by the rapid increase of population in both rural and urban areas. Again, the constant migrations of individuals from rural areas to urban areas in search of jobs to sustain their families are causing unbearable strain on urban housing as well as basic services. I fell that while some cities, as well as states, can help by providing housing to the increasing number of homeless individuals, some just cannot afford to help people anymore, and hence, housing is taking a top position in issues for communities everywhere.
Second is the healthcare issues. Typically, the lack of affordable healthcare in communities is leaving people with struggling wth extreme illnesses or deaths, as they would rather pay the tax fines first, then figure out how to cater to their monthly premium since it costs way too much. This issue continues to affect a higher percentage of people in communities due to factors such as lack of universal coverage financially.
Lastly, is public safety. In today’s communities, crime is a true reflection of the basic and social health of a community. It is directly linked to people’s feelings of security and safety, and hence an imperative element in determining the quality of life in a community. Today, crime rates in communities do not seem to be slowing down either. With the increasing riots and police brutality, this issue tops my list.
