I am writing to express my interest in the job position for farm manager in your farm. I learnt about the job opportunity through a colleague, and after exploring through the job description, I feel I meet the requirements you are looking for in this particular job.
I have pursued Agribusiness Management at the University of Nairobi, and I hold a Bachelor’s degree with an upper Second Class. I have special interest in farm management, animal husbandry, Sales promotion, Inventory management; especially-Economic Order Quantity Management, market research and product development. I am determined to major in Agri-enterprise management in future. Other than my course work, I have gone out of my way to gather skills in Agronomy; I have been attached at Karirana Tea factory as an assistant inventory keeper, where I learnt a lot on record keeping and stock control. I have also done field attachment and later internship at Agriculture and Food Authority, under the ministry of Agriculture, in the department of Market research and Product development. My main task was to build capacity to local farmers in the revival of pyrethrum farming, promoting pyrethrum based pesticides in the local market through sensitization, and doing desk research on Miraa international markets. I have since been assisting my parents in managing their tea farm in Limuru, exposing me to skills such as leaf quality control, tea husbandry and labor management. I make timely decisions, I have gained soft skills in risk management and problem solving, and I have learnt to manage time wisely considering important tasks first.
I feel that your farm places prominence in my area of study and having the privilege to serve as an employee with you will help your firm improve their set target and goals as well as achieving your long term goals. It will also advance my career goals while using what I have learnt to make an impact in your firm. Generally, I find Mega dairy farm to be very significant, and important as Agribusiness has a special role to contribute to the Big four Agenda, in the pillar of improving on food security.
