How my life will never remain the same post-COVID
#COVID-19 is something we all never expected… and it is proving to be an adversary, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake and challenging even the world’s best healthcare systems. If this is the Mongol Conquests, then it would be recorded in the history as one, which struck humanity and infected over 6.29 million people and snatched 375,000 lives.
None of us was prepared to face the realities of the pandemic, and I know that the world that we’ve known will never be the same!
“How?” You ask.
Coronavirus has brought nations to a standstill. It has made a lot of people stop and reflect. It has made us appreciate the incredible ability we have to search for remedies within a short time. It has made us rekindle relationships we never thought was possible. It has made us creative in unimaginable ways.
For me, my orientation will never remain the same after all of these is over, and here is why:
How I Work
One of the major ways COVID has changed my life is how I work. While I work from home, some clients would ask for physically meetings or request that I come to clarify things that could have been done over the phone. Now, unable to meet people one-on-one, most businesses have abruptly shifted from direct contact to doing virtual meetings overnight – my clients inclusive. They have realized that they dont need a physical wall to get things moving. Yes, this is a positive for me! No more physical meetings and I know it will affect how I work for a very long time.
Personal Hygiene
I mean, I know the importance of personal hygiene before now, but I never saw it in this light! However, since the pandemic, personal hygiene has never been more emphasized. I now understand more than ever the importance of washing my hands frequently. Wash your hands, guys; it can save your life!
Mental health
Staying indoors for a very long time due to the lockdown can impact your mental health. People are forced to think and reflect during this period. For me, I have had to think about my mental health and how I am consciously making decisions that affect it. Normally, I wouldn’t have, this new habit is as a result of the outbreak.
Knowing what is important
It dawned on me that all the beautiful clothes, cars, jewellery, and so on cant be utilized during the pandemic…it made me focus more on what I eat, how I prioritize my well being, my loved ones, and my life in general. I can say that this has left an important reminder in my heart.
Medical supplies
Before now, I didn’t pay so much attention to my health generally and never really thought of stocking medical supplies. However, the coronavirus has changed this. Now my kitchen and bathroom cabinets are stocked with things I never thought I would need. Lol!
Staying informed
Staying informed is one of the ways to overcome ignorance, and so, I have been consciously staying informed through as authorized platforms like WHO, CDC, and UNICEF. This has also affected how I consume medical information.
Above are some of the ways coronavirus has changed a lot of things for me. How about you? We would love to hear from you!
