HUMAN RESOURCES AND  MANAGEMENT

Human Resource Management is useful in ensuring that people in an organization are properly managed to help the organization gain profits. Human Resource practices differ from one country to another depending on the political and cultural orientation of the country. Australia and Indonesia are two neighboring countries with different cultural, economic, and political differences. In recent, Australia has been frequently associated with terrorism attacks as compared to Indonesia, which makes Human Resource professionals from Australia to change their strategies when they enter in Indonesia. Cultural, political, and legal differences between Australia and Indonesia affects Human Resource practices between the two countries.

Indonesia has the fourth largest population in the world. Indonesia has a population of approximately 260 million people, which is several times larger than the population in Australia. Furthermore, Indonesia is approximately 2 square kilometers while Australia is approximately 8 square kilometers in terms of the size (Rayner, 2018, 31). As a result, people in Indonesia are more densely populated that the people in Australia. Large and rapid population growth as witnessed in Indonesia are obstacles to social development (Bongaarts, 2016, 409). Due to the large population in Indonesia, the education system is not developed as in Australia. Australia has a manageable population with an improved education system. Indonesia, the institutions of higher learning are highly populated with few lectures due to a large population in the country, which causes poor training in the institutions. As a result, employees Indonesia has low skills level as compared to employees in Australia. Low skills level means low numerations to the employees. Therefore, employees in Australia are highly paid than the employees in Indonesia because of the disparity in skills level. When expertise in Australia enters to Indonesia for work, the expertise experiences a significant reduction in salaries because of different Human Resource practices between the two countries caused by the disparity in skills level.

Terrorism attacks negatively affect the economy in the affected countries, which in turn affects the Human Resource Management practices in these countries. Indonesia has made numerous efforts to avoid terrorist attacks including passing anti-terrorism laws in the country (Waluyo, 2017, 4). The laws and the efforts towards eradication of terrorism groups in Indonesia have caused Indonesia to experience fewer terrorism attacks as compared to Australia in recent days. Employees have a poor attitude of working in organizations that are found in environments that are affected by terrorism attacks. In recent, Australia has been affected by many terrorist attacks than Indonesia. Human Resource managers in Indonesia will be challenged when they move to Australia on how to attract employees to work in an organization found in areas prone to terrorism attacks. As a result, Human Resource managers from Indonesia will be forced to pay high salaries to employees when they move to Australia so that that they can attract and retain employees in organizations found in environments prone to terrorists. Therefore, terrorism affects Human Resource practices in Australia and Indonesia.

Human Resource managers working in organizations that run across Australia and Indonesia will be faced by a challenge of managing employees who work in both countries. Indonesia is a densely populated country where people have fewer skills as compared to people in Australia. Human Resource managers who need to extend their practices from Australia to Indonesia need to be aware of the low skills level in Indonesia. The Human Resource managers should learn on how to award salaries to employees depending on their skills level to ensure organizations benefits from employees with low output because of low skills level in Indonesia as compared to Australia. Human Resource managers who need to enter Indonesia should be ready to face challenges of while coping to the Human Resource practices in Indonesia. To avoid the challenges, the Human Resource managers from Australia need to understand the population and legal structure in Indonesia.
