Presenting your city to a committee in order to receive a multi-million dollar grant
Like your final paper, you are an administrator, but this time of a city. In this scenario, you are tasked with presenting your city to a committee in order to receive a multi-million dollar grant. You may choose how you spend the money and who the money is reallocated. Create a mock city – you may use your hometown as a guide. I will not be looking for specific counts of people but estimates of city demographics are encouraged. Explain why your city needs the grant and specifically how you will use it to tackle a criminal justice issue (crime, social issues, police training, community reform, etc.).
Again, this city is up to your discretion, however the aspects of your essay must be at minimum 500 words and include:
- Type of City
- Crime in the city
- Demographics (age, race, etc.)
- City Population
- Offender Population
- Type of crime (s)
- Who commits the crime
- Crime Rates
- Where is it happening
- Crime Rates
- Who commits the crime
- Demographics (age, race, etc.)
- Law Enforcement and Policy
- This may be similar to you “Increasing Crime” paper or ‘Decreasing Crime” extra credit idea, but I would like to know what your city officials are currently doing to stop/manage crime (current programs or are you creating a program from scratch)
- Current/Potential Issues
- How will the grant be used to help your city
- How will it be used
- How will it help your city
- Why does your city deserve the grant
