you will watch several videos, compare and contrast varied skill levels of second language learners, and present your findings in a paper and presentation.
Instructions
Watch several videos from the following playlist https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLh_cfDwS8mrvYJpTINKRA9pWrEKfO-2tZ and choose two videos of different speaking skill levels. Write a 2-3 page paper in APA format containing the following:
- Identify the following language elements in the videos selected:
- bilabials
- labiodentals
- dentals
- alveolars
- palatals
- velars
- glottals
- Identify the similarities and differences between the two videos.
- Compare and contrast the speakers’ pronunciations.
- Illustrate examples of assimilation, nasalization, or elision.
- Point out examples of compound words or neologisms.
- Detect examples of perseveration, anticipation, or exchange.
- Examine some possible barriers to second language learning.
Presentation
Develop a presentation of your analysis (using PowerPoint or Google Slides) and submit an audio recorded version of the presentation using Kaltura. You will record yourself orally giving the presentation while displaying the PowerPoint or Google slides. Record the PowerPoint and voiceover together by using the Screen Recording feature of Kaltura’s CaptureSpace. You will display your slides on your desktop while recording your voice.

Guidelines for the PowerPoint
Your presentation should include 5 to 6 slides. The slideshow should be impactful and interesting, keeping your audience’s attention. Be consistent with fonts, colors, and stylistic choices. Simple is better than cluttered.

Record and submit an oral presentation to accompany the PowerPoint or Google slides. The voiceover should be impactful and interesting, keeping your audience’s attention. The presentation should be 3 to 5 minutes long.
