Proposal Letter with Annotated Bibliography
In the course of the semester, I have been able to write three academic essays. From the previous essays, I have learned that to be a prolific writer I need more practice in writing. Practice is essential in gaining skills in all aspects of life. My first essay was of low quality as compared to my third essay. The quality of the essays has improved since the first essay to the last essay, implying that with practice, I can become a more developed and prolific writer. Good writing involves the ability to focus on an argument or thesis around which the entire writing should be organized. Also, good writing entails the inclusion of examples and quotations to make ideas more meaningful and memorable to the target reader. Of importance, good writing includes correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation. In my final essay, I will prepare an outline before the writing that will assist me in coming up with a well-organized and exciting essay that focuses on the thesis statement. After writing the final essay, I will proofread the essay to remove any spelling, grammar, and punctuation mistakes.
“A Christmas I’ll Never Forget” is the title of the essay that I will revise and expand on it to make the final essay. The essay is about a Christmas day that changed my entire life. I had anxiously waited for the Christmas day to arrive because the year was challenging to our family, and I wanted to see the year come to an end. In the course of the year, my father had lost his job where we struggled financially, but in November, my father started a business that picked up well. Also, in the same year, my friend Andrew was involved in a terrific road accident where he lost his parents. I longed to see the Christmas day because it was the only day I knew my father would be available to spend time with us as a family. During the holiday I used to take my friend Andrew for physical therapy while he was on his wheelchair. During the Christmas morning, several activities happened. My siblings and I were offered with several presents. Also, the most important moment of the day came when my parents stated that they were going to adopt Andrew and become one of our family members. The moment changed my entire life because of the kind of love my parents showed to Andrew. I could not imagine that my friend Andrew was no longer going to be my friend but my brother. Since that day I learned the importance of being concerned with other people’s problems.
To make my final essay more compelling, I will remove all the unnecessary repetitions in the essay. Unnecessary repetition makes an essay to sound boring to the reader and also changes the aim of the main points in the essay. Also, I will replace any wrongly spelled word in my essay with the correct spelling to make my points clear to the reader. In addition, I will restructure my paragraphs to make sure that every paragraph contains a specific idea to improve the organization of my essay. The three chosen outside sources will help me to learn more skills required to come up with a compelling essay.
