Motivation, Stress, and Time
Motivation
Motivation in the workplace influences an organization’s success by enhancing its productivity. Some critical factors that can improve employees’ motivation include incentives, such as rewards and bonuses (Ali, Bin, Piang & Ali, 2016). As a staff in the airline sector, I have observed how the above factors impact employee motivation and performance. Our organization embraces a low-cost strategy to survive the competitive environment. In prior years, some managers were abrasive during the meetings, and they stressed the mission of the airline organization only. After evaluating the airline’s statistics, the senior managers found that customer service performance had been low over the years. After conducting a survey, the organization found that crewmembers were dissatisfied with the compensation framework as well as the management system. In response to the condition of the employees, the airline increased the cabin crew’s bonus for onboard sales and payments associated with the length of flights. The top managers encouraged the excellent relationship between the first-line managers and employees. The organization experienced improved customer service within a year after improving rewards and employee-manager relations.
Workplace Stress
Workplace stress influences dynamics in the workplace by reducing the employees’ performance. According to Okoro, Adekitan, and Nebo (2017), stress harms workplace productivity. Besides, stress can lead to worker burnout, which negatively affects the performance of duties in the workplace. Organizational leaders can minimize job stress by designing flexible work schedules and reasonable workloads. The organization should ensure that workers have sufficient skills to do their roles. Furthermore, leaders should allow employees to engage in decision making in matters impacting their tasks. For instance, senior managers in my organization have taken several measures to address the stress facing maintenance personnel and flight attendants. As earlier mentioned, my organization placed high expectations on the employees to maintain low costs. Workers were subjected to irregular and long working hours. The above factors, coupled with the pressures and heavy demands of the airline’s work, increased the staff’s stress. The stressful environment contributed to the reduced motivation of employees and low customer service performance. The senior management implemented some measures to reduce job stress. The leaders implemented reasonable and fair expectations on the airline personnel. Besides, the organization increased communication between the employees and top leaders to gain deep insight into matters impacting the staff. The organization has a policy that requires training for maintenance staff, flight attendance, and pilots regularly. Most of the members report reduced stress and motivation to do their job.
Time Management
Organization leaders should use keep projects and tasks under their control to ensure a streamlined flow of business operations. Time management is an integral aspect of the airlines’ productivity. As a leader, I can apply several practices to manage time and prioritize critical workplace issues. I should analyze the time that is available for the completion of the tasks and projects in the organization. The above step involves being aware of the due dates of all tasks. I will handle projects in accordance with their importance. The gravity and urgency of tasks are critical elements that form the basis for determining the highest-priority jobs. Projects with more weight and short deadlines should be done first. Prioritizing time is significant for leaders and organizations because it provides a framework for completing all tasks. Without prioritizing, a company may end up completing less important tasks while leaving critical projects unattended. Prioritizing time can also enable an organization to manage some unforeseen events and demands.
