These are the following tasks at hand at Hospital XYZ (not in the priority order):
- HR domain: Review the current hiring practices for nurses working in the emergency room department.
- Operations: Bad bedside manner from nurses in labor and delivery.
- Finance: Review financial requests for Environmental Services to purchase new buffers to wax floors.
- IT: Review Information Technology’s concerns regarding a possible information breach.
- IT: Review request for implementation of new software in the radiology department.
While assigning priority to these tasks, one shall keep in mind where an individual patient (customer) is mostly affected. So Task 1 and 2 involve the patients and nurses stakeholders.
Since, the Task 2 involves direct complains from patients, it should be looked upon as the first priority and certain benchmarks shall be set for each of the nurses. The regular patient’s feedback shall be taken to keep a check on the nurses and a specific training program shall be designed for the newly hired ones as well as the ones with the negative feedback.

Task 1 shall be taken up as the second priority as this directly affects the day-to-day service levels of the hospital, wherein less number of nurses will result in patients’ dissatisfaction.
Stakeholders involved – Patients, Nurses, Existing staff, Doctors
Task 4 where there are suspicions of information breach shall be taken on the third priority considering the loss of important patients’ details being handed over to some other companies which they can use for personal benefits.
Stakeholders involved – IT department, patients
Task 3, where funds are required to buy new buffers shall help the hospital to be kept clean. This shall be taken up on the fourth priority as compared to the above 3 tasks. This is important but doesn’t involve the primary concern for the patients’ and doesn’t impact the service levels as high as the above 3 tasks do.
Stakeholders involved – Finance department officials, Environment service department officials, Cleaner folks (sweepers)
Task 5 New software review request for Radiology department shall be taken up as last. As it is a new software, it indicates that there is already an old software in place. Hence, anything is not stooping or this task is no bottlenecks in other tasks. So it can be done as the last priority.
