Compare and contrast three of the major bands of the British invasion. The Beatles, the rolling stones, and the Who. What qualities made each band famous? How did they influence other bands that followed? Which is your favorite and why?
The Beatles were the most influential rock band that is credited for the production of art rock. One quality of the Beatles is that they transformed the meaning and sound of rock & roll. The band was considered to be the most influential group because it played an important role in the 1960s counterculture development and made music to be recognized as an art. They influenced soft rock music. The rolling Stones influenced the hard rock music by incorporating subjects considered as taboo like drugs to their songs. The band used the Chicago blues style to generate an outstanding image of the dark side of the post-1960s counterculture. They created their signature sound by blending rock and blues. The Who was the first rock opera band and the founders of punk. One of the quality that made the band famous is that it included destruction in their performances. The Rolling Stones are my favorite because they defined rock ‘n roll by singing about subjects that were considered taboo but educative.
