Form 1: Before Photos of Living Room
Begin by choosing the living room that you want to decorate. You may decorate your own living room, or you may offer your services to a friend or relative. Once you’ve found the room, complete these steps:
- Take photos of all four walls of the room you’re decorating: north, south, east, and
- If you take digital photos (the preferred method), submit them on a flash drive in JPEG format, or scan or take photos to upload for grading. Clearly name each photo: for example, “Form 1: North Wall Before Decorating.” (On Form 1, simply indicate that you’ve submitted digital )
- If you submit printed photos, mount them in the appropriate places on Form
- In the space provided on page 3 of Form 1, describe each wall and the overall space, including color, lighting, furni ture, and so on. Explain any problem areas in the room. Your answers can be either typed or neatly

- Exact measurements of the room in feet and inches
- Direction in which doors open
- Location and size of windows
- Notation of any fixed objects like fireplaces and built-ins
- Placement of existing furniture (Be sure the furniture on your floor plan is in the same scale as the drawing of the room. Use your template to draw the furniture directly on the floor plan, or draw it on a separate sheet of paper and paste the cutouts on the )

Then, answer the questions on page 3 of Form 3.
Form 4: Project Sheets
Before you can complete the sheets in Form 4, you must develop the color scheme, the window treatments, and floor plans. If you include samples, be sure to include the
product information on them. If submitting photos, include a description of the material or product in the photo.

- Finally, on page 4, provide samples of the flooring mate rial or carpeting you’ve chosen for the living
Form 5: Floor Plan of Finished Room
On Form 5, provide a second scale drawing of the liv- ing room floor, this time indicating the placement of the new fur-niture pieces. Again, you can either draw the furniture
pieces directly on the graph paper, or you can draw them on a separate sheet of paper and paste the individual pieces on the scale drawing. Be sure to include the traffic patterns.
Form 6: Window Treatment
On page 1 of Form 6, provide a sketch or photo of the new/ proposed window treatment you’ll be using. On page 2, point out the advantages of this treatment, and explain why you’ve chosen the treatment. Type or neatly handwrite your answer.
Form 7: Elevations
Form 7 provides a sheet for each of the four walls in your room. If you physically complete this decorating plan, provide “after” photos of each wall. Otherwise, prepare a scaled elevation of each wall. (Pages 77-80 in Walls explains how to draw scaled elevations.) Your drawings should reflect what the newly redec orated room is going to look like when it’s finished. In the space provided below each photo or drawing, explain what you’ve changed or added and why you made the change or addition.
