Employees in the hospital are diverse in various ways
Introduction
Employees in the hospital are diverse in various ways. For example, when it comes to age, employees are employed in a setup of differing age groups 25-35,35-55 yrs. There is also a hierarchy of jobs, such as doctors, nurse’s paramedics, and non-medics. Diversity of skills among employees is also included non-medics vs nurse’s paramedics vs doctors. Differences in salary payment among employees considering their job type in the organization. Lastly, the gender of the employees whereby there are males and females in all departments in the organization.
Body
There are various groups of employees in a hospital organization. For example, non- medics, doctors, nurses, and paramedics. Through the study done it is confirmed that there is higher motivation implemented to paramedics followed by non- medics, doctors, and the least is the nurses. The paramedics are said to be more motivated due to privileges like; favorable assignments, flexible working hours, good collaborations between the occupational group, leave provision and compensatory leaves, and many more. Females in general in the employee’s group have low motivation levels than males, they are said to have more commitment towards families than work. Unlike males who need to perform better to keep satisfying themselves. Nurses are said to be less satisfied due to their improper recruitment policy, improper deployment, few career growth opportunities, lesser option for training, poorly defined job descriptions, and priority towards the family.
Motivation is defined as the key to achieving personal and organizational goals through the processes that account for an individual’s intensity, direction, and persistence of effort towards attaining a goal. If the motivation lacks it will lead to poor performance among employees through various reasons stated below; Through external motivation promotions and salary, increments are based on the time-bound, not on the employee’s performance, this leads to demotivation among employees. Whereby males are more motivated than females in the same organization it leads to demotivation to many thus very poor performances in the organization. When motivation is given based on the duration of services leads to motivation to most employees. The motivation is given based on a hierarchy of job also counts in the demotivation of the employees. Low degree of self-determination in each and every employee in the organization counts in poor performance. In the sense of a higher hierarchy of jobs in the organization, some employees having more privileges than others. For example, having flexible working hours, less heavy tasks, having safe working environments, and leaves provisions and complementary leaves.
The poor relationship between work allotted, poor work environment, poor relationship between the supervisor and the employees, unavailability of resources required to perform, poor social environment, incompetency in work values of the organization and low human resources practices according to Herzberg theory proves that it can lead to low performance. On analysis for Identified Regulation, it was found that mean motivational levels were similar among doctors, paramedics, and non-medics. Regulations levels were significantly lower for nurses compared to other that of doctors and non –medicos.
Conclusion
Through a study of Masaud Asl, there are various factors to be considered to improve in ways to motivate employees. They include; giving employees good working environment, assuring employees of their job security in all job seasons, making favorable but strict official rules and regulations, making sure employees are paid reasonable payment, the management having a sense and responsibility towards the job, management showing interest in the work and the management being successful in the job could affect worker’s performance. The management having a higher degree of self-determination, can be essential since they would act as role models to the demotivated employees. By treating all the employees in the organization as one in terms of privileges may act as a form of motivation to the demotivated. Not only should the management give employees promotions and salary increments through the duration of service given but also trough performances of the employees. Gender balancing in the organization is also important whereby both males and females are treated equally. The management should ensure they give room for employees to give opinions and suggestions in the organization before coming up with new changes.
