The parents’ role in the guidance pyramid is to reinforce the social and emotional development of infants and young children. Besides, the guidance pyramid assumption is that families are essential partners in promoting and supporting positive behavior. Also, parents should play a part in the prevention of negative and challenging behaviors in their infants and young kids. It is the parents’ role to provide systematic intervention and increase learning opportunities for their children to learn and practice new skills at home and in the community.
How does the physical classroom environment affect children’s behavior?
The physical classroom environment affects children’s behavior by making them more compliant since most teachers focus on compliance rather than self-regulation. The classroom environment requires the sustained commitment of both the teachers and learners. Additionally, there is timely training and competent coaching in the physical classroom that requires policies and rules to make the environment conducive for the desired outcome.
How will you use the Guidance Pyramid in your placement or your current work with children?
As an educator, the guidance pyramid would be essential in the creation and development of policies and procedures aligned with high fidelity implementation. The use of the guidance pyramid process would enable me as an educator to focus on outcome data for decision making. The primary goal would be to achieve positive outcomes for children at home and in the community. The Guidance pyramid would enable me to enforce social and emotional development in the children’s routines and activities. Additionally, I would ensure that the children have supportive environments on the school compound to help them develop their positive behaviors, socially and emotionally. My responsibility as an educator would also include encouraging them to promote skills learning and development.
