Seeking opportunity as an intern

Respected Professor Dr. CHNG Shu Sin

Greetings from India,

I, Stephen Browne am a 2nd-year undergraduate (UG) pursuing 3-year Bachelors of Science Chemistry Honours in St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi, India which is ranked among the best colleges of India for pursuing undergraduate studies in Science.

I am a highly motivated individual looking for opportunities to learn more about Science, specifically in Chemistry to broaden my horizon so that I can equip myself with the best abilities to help in the advancement of science and our society. I got to know about the quality of research of the Chemistry Department of the National University of Singapore and while going through the website your research interest in understanding biological membranes assembly and lipid trafficking in Gram-negative bacteria caught my attention. I myself was studying biospecific antibodies and how they can provide many health benefits using orthogonal functional groups and selective protein degradation and lipidated stapled peptides and how they help in the completion of cytokinesis. I also read research work on lipid dependent cellular processes and how their signaling generates various cellular processes which lead me to your work. Sir, your work on identifying key challenges in intermembrane lipid trafficking was really well presented, I understand there is still more research work to be done to understand outer membrane biogenesis. Also your research on ATP- binding cassette was helped me understand the previously unknown functions. I was amazed to see the complexity and diversity in their uses in chemical biology. I had a few questions of my own to get more in-depth knowledge on the subject and would love to interact with you. I know the challenges faced currently in this field and need extensive research which will help in our society because of its varied applications and would like to learn from you regarding this study.

My interest in Chemistry started from an early age seeing the applicability of Chemical Sciences around me which inspired me to pursue Chemistry. I believe learning from you about this field will help me gain practical and theoretical knowledge about the subject and allow me to generate new innovations in this field and strive forward in Chemical Sciences.

Therefore I am writing to seek an opportunity to learn from you as an intern or just if you could guide me on the path to becoming a responsible and observant researcher in the field of Sciences. I know the challenges in the pandemic hit the world and would be happy to just to connect and learn from your experience. Hope you consider my application I will be highly obliged. I have also attached my CV below.

Yours sincerely

Stephen Browne
