A nostalgia factor in movies and TV shows
Hi Mariyam, most television shows and movies today indeed have a nostalgia factor. This is simply sentimentality for the past, usually for a period or place with happiness. The primary reason most movies and TV shows have these factors is that they allow their audience to feel connected to the real world while watching them; hence, they can easily relate them with real-world experiences. It also adds the potential of bringing in a new viewer, and it also makes the movie exciting and can be watched by any generation. (Ewen, 2020). Today’s society is encouraged to watch previous decades’ scenes to challenge their morals and transform their opinions concerning the previous decade’s lifestyles. The nostalgia factor also helps the viewers to improve their moods and also increase their social connectedness. It also provides the existential meaning of a particular show or movie. (Cho et al., 2020).
