Racket or paddle sports involve games that use a paddle or a racquet while playing. Most of them have a minimum of two and a maximum of four players. A racquet is a sports equipment used for striking. It has a round frame joined with tight stretched strings to hold the ball.

A paddle is a sports object with a single blade and an open flat surface on one end used for pushing.  Surprisingly, these sports are life-extending since they allow your body to relax and become flexible. In this article, we focus on the five games you can play with a racquet or paddle.

Tennis

Tennis is a well-known worldwide sport; both men and women enjoy playing. The entertaining game engages either two players, where one person plays against another or four players where a duo plays against another pair.

Tennis believes to have originated from France in the 12th Century. It is both an indoor, and outdoor sport played using a racquet where participants strike the ball across the net to the challenger’s court. The opponent has to hit it back, avoiding making an error.

There are some rules players need to observe while playing, such as, for a player to win the game, they need to lead with at least two points. In the case of a deuce, a player earns two points in a row.

Pickleball is a fun and exciting game mostly compared to Tennis, Badminton, and Ping Pong. The sport is for both men and women and originated from Bainbridge in 1965. Participants play using paddles either in singles or in doubles. The game is embraced by many hence it is growing at a fast pace globally.

The fastest-growing match is played on a rectangular court separated by a net into two equal parts. Each side comprises of orange lines, the baselines, and sidelines, as shown in the picture. Pickleball sport involves opposing teams kicking the ball back and forth until a player makes an error. The differences between pickleball and other paddle sports are; it is easy to learn, has no age limit, and requires less equipment to play.

Racketball

Are you looking forward to a cardio-vascular workout? Racketball is an exceptional and commended choice for the exercise. It is both an indoor and outdoor sport played in singles or doubles.  Players use a racquet made of hollow rubber. Joe Sobek invented the game in 1952 in the United States.

Available types of equipment known for this game are the racquets, made of titanium and granite, rubber balls that come in different colors, and eyewear for eye protection due to the high-speed ball.

Racket ball game differs from other racquet sports because the racquet and ball used are more extensive compared to other paddle sports.

Squash

The sport is no longer in tournaments; however, it is an exciting game to enjoy. Players use racquets to play either in singles, one person against another, or as an individual. The sport was developed back in the 19th Century in London.

It is a unique game because; you can play this sport alone; hence it differs from the rest racquet and paddle sports.

Badminton

Mostly played by women, badminton is a popular sport played using a racquet and shuttlecock. Its origin traces back to the 16th Century from Asian countries such as India and China. Up-to-date, these countries produce the best players. It is an indoor game because of the light shuttlecock.

How to Play

Game requirements are two to four players, net, badminton court, and racquets. The opposing players hit the shuttlecock with the racquets across the net back and forth, preventing it from touching the ground.
