Steps for effective collaboration

Effective collaboration is essential in an organization; thus, many individuals hold that effective collaboration equals success. Collaboration is known for transforming business and organization through inspiring teamwork when performing various activities. According to Seaton et al. (2018), effective collaboration in an organization can be enhanced by a shared vision, organization commitment, and leadership. Thus effective collaboration is very critical to any organization. Effective collaboration can be facilitated through various stages, such as developing coherent vision, planning for adaptation, and establish principles for behavior.

Developing a coherent vision is one of the critical steps for facilitating effective collaboration, and it entails understanding the value of the organization, legal requirements, and core intellectual property. An organization can use technology as a tool to help develop a coherent vision and help enhance collaboration in it. Technology is essential to the success of the business. Furthermore, business models, tools, and unified strategy are required vision for collaboration, which is necessary for organization development. Another step for effective collaboration is planning for adaptation due to new technologies emerging (McKeen & Smith,2015). Due to evolvement and complexity of collaboration, there is a need for management attention and focus on how things are currently done. The emergency of the network is helping the organization to be more complex; thus it should be managed effectively.

The last stage for effective collaboration is establishing principles of behavior. Principles enhance collaboration, and thus transparency is very critical to information systems because it comprehends how the information governance. Establishing principles of behavior helps eliminate online anonymity and state company affiliation for those using social networking to do business (Towe et al.,2016). This requires acute management since cultural behaviors are changing. Thus, companies should develop policies and practices for staff to achieve a productive work-life balance because of global connectivity.
