  1. In the video on Joshua, who is it they say is doing battle against the Canaanites?  What part is Israel to have in the battle for the Promised Land?

It is the battle of God, and Israel is going to play the supporter’s role in God’s plan.

  1. How does the video explain the statements in Joshua about “all of the Canaanites” being slaughtered? Was it a Genocide?

The stories of Joshua’s use non-literal hyperbolic language as the narrative style; this means that the word genocide wouldn’t be what we perceive it to be.

  1. According to the Judges video, what is the main point of that book?

The book of Judges is quite disturbing and violent, telling the tragic story of the Israelites moral corruption of bad leadership. Why would a good God send his people to take over other people’s land and kill them while at it? Even though they have no difference from the Canaanites, it generates hope for the future.

  1. Why did God tell the Israelites to drive out the Canaanites from the land? 

To avoid their moral corruption and their way of worshiping gods inform of child sacrifice. God declared his people to be Holy.

  1. According to the video, if the leaders and people are so corrupt at this time, why does God’s Spirit fall upon the leaders, and why does He use them for His purposes?

His Spirit motivates each of the judges in accomplishing great deliverance act, not because he validates any of their decisions. But for the fact that he is committed firstly to saving his people and all he had to deal with was the corrupt leaders.

  1. In the final chapters of Judges, the statement is repeated several times, “In those days Israel had no king, and everyone did what was right in their own eyes.” What hint of hope is there for the future in that phrase?

In the phrase, hopes hint for the future is that Israel had no king setting the following books to tell of the origin of King David’s family and that of kingship itself in Israel. God’s grace would send a king in the rescue of his people.
