Key Supply Chain Management Terms and Reasons for Interests

Once you look at the terms above, which represent the critical term “supply chain,” it is important that it defines the relationship between consumers and the position of products in the market. My reasons for studying the supply chain terms and its other associated terms revolve around the market demand to have high-quality products. I wanted to apply the concept of the supply chain in my professional environment. I believe that supply chain management is an important component of ensuring the maximization of customer satisfaction. In turn, I may be able to create a framework that delivers the best products and services for the market around me to boost my organization’s profitability.

Explanation of the Key Term

The supply chain may not function without a collaborative framework. It combines efforts, expertise, and processes to ensure that the market remains satisfied with its products. The right strategies are instrumental in identifying efficiency, flexibility, and effectiveness in applying the concept of supply chain management.

The Cited Work- Esfahbodi, A., Zhang, Y., Watson, G., & Zhang, T. (2017). Governance pressures and performance outcomes of sustainable supply chain management–An empirical analysis of the UK manufacturing industry. Journal of cleaner production155, 66-78.

Relating the cited Work to the Course

The citation selection revolves around the fact that almost every sector depends on a supply chain management framework to deliver satisfaction. My selection for the article is that the supply chain management concept, mostly the sustainable ones, has continued to gain considerable attention in many markets. Despite the article focusing on the United Kingdom, it serves as a representation of the many markets across the world that are opening up to international modes of supply chains. The focus on the selection is about the application of supply chain management in the business environment.

Are individuals and companies thinking of sustainable supply chain management because of coercive pressure in delivering products? Or is it because it ensures profitability and long-term development of companies? The two questions are extensive in defining the direction of businesses in the relationships they have with the markets around them. I believe that the two questions find the right reasons to initiate a strategic supply chain management for the business in the markets to thrive and beat the competition.

The supply chain management concept is diverse and does just look into the process of delivering products. It is more focused on sustainability, coherent relationships, strategic applications, information technology, and a market’s nature. Since Esfahbodi, Zhang, Watson, & Zhang (2017) focus on sustainability for profitability, the rest of the articles are also focused on ensuring that companies can focus on developing a relevant supply chain management framework for the market. Issues such as green supply chain management, manufacturing performance processes, and sustainability of the practice.

The outcome comprises my focus on the critical areas of discussions raised by the four articles about the one selected in the top segment. I believe that these areas are instrumental in my career and academic life. Theoretical knowledge of the areas is instrumental in influencing a comprehensive understanding of the supply chain management concept. In turn, I believe I can become a good supply chain manager about defining operational gaps in my organization and implementing the right strategies.
