Texas Part-Time legislature

Texas is a big state that adopted a part-time legislature, and it helped the leaders to meet their citizens more regularly. The distance from the Capitol to the state was considered to be long, and the leaders would fail to attend the legislative sessions; thus, they ended up outlining a better method that would help them to remain active in the state. The need for a part-time legislature was passed due to insufficient time to pass their bills, and the writers of the constitution thought of passing a better way of the leaders working effectively. The part-time legislature was developed as they needed to be in committees that aid in serving the citizens more efficiently. The identification of problems in the state like transportation problems and health care problems call for the citizens to share their ideas before the legislative sessions are planned.

The benefits that arise in the part-time legislature are that the leaders are close to the citizens, have part-time jobs that help their lives, and bridging the gap between the voters and the elected representatives. The voters need their leaders to attend to them, and when they have part-time legislation, they end up dealing with all challenges, and the citizens end up satisfied in Texas State. The second benefit is that the leaders can have time for their personal development, and this helps to serve the voters in the best manner ever. The third benefit is them dealing with the citizens makes it easier to deal with the challenges that arise before the legislative meetings are formed in the state. The main cost that arises in the part-time-legislation in Texas is that they pay “per diem” and “unvouchered expense payments,” and this leaves the state paying higher costs and meet for the lowest number of days.
