Q1. Define Complementary And Alternative Medicine
Complementary medicine is a type of diagnosis, treatment, and medical practice used alongside standard medical therapy (Barcan, 2020). Standard treatment is western medical practices carried out by healthcare professionals. Therefore, Complementary medicine is used together with standard therapy as an additional treatment. For instance, in holistic nursing, nurses enhance healing and nurture the wholeness of health customers (Barcan, 2020). Despite complementary medicine being large in terms of practices and healthcare systems, many people have not embraced them. However, some people prefer them due to social, cultural, and economic reasons.
On the other hand, alternative medicines are complete procedures and practices developed outside biomedical approaches to substitutes mainstream medicine (Barcan, 2020). Again, Alternative medicines are practices used in place of conventional medicine—for example, usage of special diet supplements instead of undergoing the operation. Although alternative medicine is incredibly essential, many people do not recognize them in proven treatment.
Q2. Describe The Nurse PR actioner’s Role in Utilizing Holistic Nursing and Diet Supplement
In holistic nursing, nurse practitioner offers bedside care and also assess patients. Moreover, NP performs their regular duties, including assessing patients, prescribing medicine, and developing a healthcare plan (Wode, Henriksson, Sharp, Stoltenberg & Nordberg, 2019). NP provides counselling to patients and educates them and their family members on managing and controlling the disease. Nevertheless, NP’s also expand their practices to involve other options of complementary medication (Wode, Henriksson, Sharp, Stoltenberg & Nordberg, 2019). Holistic NP’s promotes the psychological and emotional well-being of the patients in order for them to have physical healing. Besides, NP’s enhances better patient’s outcomes through holistic nursing. On the diet supplement, NP assesses, for example, the cancer patient to see if the dietary supplement has been significant impacts. Again, NP educates the patient on the usage of diet supplements.
