Sociology

Every society people are organized in different groups depending on several factors which include economic status, social status, among others. The world is of no exception. Some nations are perceived to be economically superior to others. Global stratification is the difference in power and wealth between nations caused by the unequal distribution of resources. It is the arranging of people in societies in a hierarchical order globally. It is the unequal distribution of resources among countries. To illustrate global stratification, sociologists group nations into three broad categories which are; most industrialized nations, industrializing nations and least industrialized nations.

Sociologists provide potential solutions to global stratification. According to them, less industrialized countries should abandon traditional economic beliefs and attitudes and instead, focus on economic growth. Wealthy countries should not exploit developing countries through dependency. While some sociologists say, the developed nations should be willing to boost the poorer countries. Although all these may reduce global stratification, they have their weaknesses. Wealthy nations control the world order hence will exploit other nations with no question. Since most developing nations depend on wealthy nations, it is difficult to cut ties with them. These nations are not ready to boost the poor nations since most of them are in the business of expanding room for exploitation. The fact that people do have strong beliefs makes it difficult for poor nations such beliefs hence increasing disparity among nations.

On the other hand, however, should the three solutions be employed, then it would solve global stratification. Of the three solutions, it is untenable truth that poor nations should abandon traditional economic beliefs and embrace economic growth. Through this, the dependency ratio will decrease, and wealthy countries will no longer exploit them. Other solutions, such as the making of government policies that will steer economic growth, may be employed to solve global stratification.
