The international sporting competition project is a megaproject that requires breakdown into smaller packages. This project has important intangible deliverables. They include sports venues, athlete accommodation, volunteer organization, security details, major sporting events and both pre-event and post-event publicity.

The work breakdown structure for this above project for this project is set to meet the following objectives:

1. To break down the whole project into smaller, manageable sections.
2. To establish the interrelationship between the work to be done in the entire project.
3. To organize the project’s related activities in the right order (Kholbaev, 2020).
4. The aid in the estimation of the cost and budge for the project.
5. The WBS also assesses the risk involved in executing the project tasks (Hudoyo, Latief & Sagita, 2019)
