Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Union Pacific Train in Ventura
Ventura, California (Monday, August 24, 2020) – A pedestrian died Monday afternoon after being struck by a Union Pacific Union train near Emma Wood State Beach, according to a report.
The fatal incident happened shortly after 1:15 p.m. north of Ventura City limits.
According to Union Pacific spokesperson, the adult pedestrian was on the railroad tracks at the time of the crash.
The pedestrian, believed to a woman, was declared dead at the scene. An initial report submitted to the state said that the victim “was taking pictures of the beach with headphones on and apparently did not hear the train coming.”
The accident is under investigation.
