Answer 1:

The taste of the ruling class dramatically influences the taste of society. Among all the luxury items, one of them that I want to have but cannot afford at the moment is the Dodge Charger vehicle. This vehicle was first manufactured in Michigan and had several models, but the performance cars captivate me more. The car has a sleek, fancy look and, most of all, is a performer when it comes to speed. When the vehicle gets ignited, and the engines begin to roar, I get super excited, imagining the feeling of driving the Dodge charger on the freeway on a lazy Sunday afternoon. I want the Dodge charger first for its 6.8 liter V8 with a horsepower of 486. Secondly, the Dodge Charger can hit a top speed of a hundred and twenty-four miles per hour. It has an acceleration time of 6.5 seconds and entails a powerful engine.

Thirdly, the Dodge Charger models offer an eight-speed automatic transmission and an option for all-wheel drive. Additionally, the vehicle can have a signature color added to it according to specification and the nitro boost for more speed (Weijo, 2019). I first learned about this vehicle when I visited an annual roadshow held in my state that showcases various cars. Out of all a hundred vehicles that were part of the show, the Dodge Charger stood out for me. After that, I researched the car via the internet and watched several videos of YouTube car fanatics like Jeremy Clarkson, who convinced me that the car was the best choice. However, my love for fast and classic cars integrated into one played a vital role. On the other hand, The Fast and Furious movie played a role in convincing me further as one of the lead actors, Dominic Torretto, drove this car.

Answer 2:

Folk culture refers to a culture or tradition practiced by a small group of people living in a rural area in isolation from other groups. When folk culture spreads to other regions, it always gets imbued with a sense of the place it came. That means that even if a foreign country copies the specific culture, the act will still carry a strong resemblance to the region it originated. An example of American folk culture is Louisiana Creole cuisine that is a style of cooking that originated in Louisiana, as the name states. The cuisine is a blend of several cultures such as the French, Spanish and Amerindian tradition.

On the other hand, popular culture refers to a culture recognized by members of a community or society as a set of standard practices and beliefs. Some of these popular cultures are often influenced by mass media or modern times and usually get seen in people’s everyday lives (Szeman & O’Brien, 2017). In the West, this culture has gotten associated with commercialism that makes cretin products more selected than others. An example of this culture is the Pizza Hut eateries that are popular for fast food and have diversified the fast food industries into more regions.

Lastly, mass culture refers to traditions that emerge as a result of mass media production and audiences. This type of culture gets absorbed by many people in the society and accepted as the practice in everyday life (Szeman & O’Brien, 2017). Usually, with this culture, the origin cannot get confirmed as it is integrated by different people worldwide. For example, McDonald’s eateries are famous worldwide, and most countries have several branches situated in their states. Constant advertisement through mass media has made McDonald’s highly recognizable widely. However, mass culture and pop culture are almost similar as both include a famous culture among a society.

Answer 3:

Cult value refers to the value of art as the art piece to change how people view a specific thing or topic. Additionally, cult values are the cultural characteristics and social ones attached to a work of art by the viewers (Williams et al., 2020). For example, cave paintings and artifacts of the early man demonstrate cult value. When individuals visit the museum, they get to see how man evolved to the current being, which changes their perception concerning man’s evolution. However, an artwork’s cult value does not get mostly desired since the general audience is distracted by receiving information that involves acts of clicking, scrolling, and opening new tabs. The only type of art that survives nowadays is one that accommodated the mentioned functioning. Art required individuals who sit down and think about what the piece entails to gain cult value.

Exhibition value in art refers to art pieces that benefit from it, showing in art galleries more often. The more individuals view it, the better the work of art becomes. This type of value usually takes over the object’s existence and means it gets meant to bring forth to the audience. The arts’ appearance is the primary lead for exhibition value as they become famous (Williams et al., 2020). There are two modes where exhibition values are strongest: social media, where all items exist to get seen. In social media, pictures are created for the exhibition’s sole purpose as its value is much stronger. An example of an art that I think is valuable gets based on the exhibition value of Monalisa’s painting. The famous painting’s value is way much as with several exhibitions in different galleries. The image got done by Leonardo DiCaprio and is estimated to be worth several billion currently.

Answer 4:

Atomization refers to separating something into finer particles. In the current world, internet connectivity is readily available in most parts of the world. Technology has advanced portable gadgets that enhance wireless internet connectivity. Families get together in one room yet barely exchanged words with one another as they are all glued to their devices, be it smartphones, tablets, I-pods, among others. Social medial may not be too social as expected for young adults to the heavy use of platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, which have gotten associated with feelings of isolation among users. Face to face interactions is related to healthy well-being among individuals compared to virtual interactions (Pittman & Reich, 2016). People are spending a lot of time online, causing one to feel socially isolated, especially where social isolation is crucial to curb the spread of Covid-19. According to research, feeling isolated could also cause individuals to revert to social media. Therefore, replacing real-world connections with social media is highly detrimental to well-being.

In my view, I think the main problem is not the internet but how people use it. As the old saying goes, too much of something is poisonous. Limited social interaction without completely withdrawing from real-world relationships with people in our lives can indeed increase connectivity (Pittman & Reich, 2016). For instance, during these challenging times, when personal interactions have gotten limited, the internet will bring people together in a meaningful way with its unique ability to connect many users.  Families should have no phones at the dinner table so that they get to interact with one another without distractions. Face to face interactions is much better and reliable compared to the chatting common among teens. Therefore, the same internet that causes isolation to form the real world can encourage individuals to get socially active in one or another. In my view, watching movies with friends/family where the individuals laugh and even relate some of the occurrences in their lives through conversation is fruitful.
