Rationale

Standard 1 states that the teacher understands the central concepts, structures, and tools of inquiry of the discipline(s) and creates learning experiences that make subject matter meaningful and engaging for students. The artifact I have chosen to demonstrate my understanding of this standard is the ECPB reflection.  I choose this artifact for it helped me understand the need to have a professional behavior inventory that regulates my actions as an educator to create a learning environment for my student’s positive learning experiences. ECPB reflection focused on honesty, which entails developing original work that illustrates a deep understanding of the teaching concepts and their constructs. ECPB reflection helped me understand how dishonesty among the students reduces their ability to develop academic skills effectively. Besides, to ensure sufficient mastery of central concepts of discipline, I learned a need to develop more skills that provide more efficiency in performing different tasks.

Reflection

While creating the ECPB reflection, I learned that a professional behavior survey helps educators evaluate attitudes, values, skills, and behaviors to determine the areas that need to be enhanced. Besides, I learned about professionalism and integrity as an educator. I understood the need to refrain from cheating and plagiarism when responding to academic assignments to provide an opportunity to effectively learn discipline structures and tools of inquiry through extensive research. If I were to have this experience again, I would seek more information on strategies to convert understanding of disciplines’ central concepts to aspects of the meaningful subject matter. The data would ensure the effective dissemination of knowledge acquired. Besides, the students would have the opportunity to grasp more comprehensive concepts due to my ability to deliver available experience effectively.
